If you really hate the idea, don’t do it. Or get a temp tat out of a chewy packet!

You'd like my daughters tatts. she has a very nice rose with some trimmings in the centre of her back and my dad's face on her forearm. I was against the forearm, but it looks good

Tatts allegedly look bad on old, wrinkled skin... so if you go ahead you'll need Botox as you age.

I recently saw a dolphin in the local tattoo parlour, getting a small teenage girl inked into it's arse....

The small of the back isn’t bad, but not something huge, arms no way, yuk. Funny I always wanted one buy just can’t think of a place I’d be happy with! Junior has a small arrow on the side of her torso pointing to her heart, and the shaft of the arrow spells Fiona, for her friend that passed away. I don’t mind it. But I don’t want her getting any more!

And all tattoos look shit when they get old and start fading and bleeding, and yes on wrinkled skin, yuk

Rude honestly mate it's up to the individual
I have 1 tattoo it's a verse along my inner forearm and reads
Son you may have grown to big for my lap but you will never be to big for my heart
I got it when he turned 18
He wanted to get a tattoo and I was firmly against it. He's studying law/business and said you don't want a tattoo to be the difference between getting or not getting a certain job
He was sure he wanted one but was going to get it on a place no one would see it unless he was near nude
So I decided to go with him along with the wife (who hates tattoo as well) whilst we were there and he was deciding on what to get we were flicking through the art books they had there and saw the above verse
The wife out the blue says oh you should get this
I laughed and said yeah ok
She said I'm serious
I said really why ?
She rambled on for a bit as mothers and wife's do in the end I said well if you really want me too then ok
I didn't care my working life is over so no need to worry about that and if I need to cover it it's as easy and a long sleeve shirt
My son got a tattoo with mine and his mothers names inside a heart surrounded by 2 hands clasping it above was written my life
So we got them together it was fun and not painful at all
I don't regret it for a second I was 48 then

Thanks for the advice everyone.

To be honest, I don't really want one, but if my son is desperate for it then we may as well get it done together. A small Magpie near the ankle seems the way to go.

I'm tattoo-free but the win on Friday night brought to mind a decision I made about 5 years while walking my dog.

I was doing my evening dog walk at the local park with a bunch of other familiar 'dog people' when I fell into conversation with this woman I hadn't seen before who was walking a greyhound. Turned out she was Irene Bolger who oldies amongst us might remember from the 1980s and her work in the Nursing Federation getting better conditions for nurses (was a huge industrial relation issue at the time). She'd gone on to get a law degree since then and had a brilliantly sharp mind when discussing the Essendon/ASADA issue that was then in the news. She was about to retire and move to Spain to be closer to family.

Anyway, footy talk got me to ask her what team does she followed. She just stopped walking, looked at me straight in the eye and pulled the sleeve up on her arm. There, proudly emblazoned on her inner arm, half-way between elbow and wrist, was a simple magpie in profile (like the one in your avatar RudeBoy) with '2010' underneath. Without saying a word it said it all. And I said if the Pies ever win another flag in my lifetime I'm going to get one just like that. Simple, small, one colour, and discretely placed on the inner arm. I too hate tatts, but I like the idea of that one. But I might get mine higher up towards the elbow - to make room just in case Buckley gives us a dynasty of five flags back-to-back.
