Will be glad to put Carlton away and just move on.

Been following the head-to-head for basically my whole life and we always get close and drop one we shouldn't. Each loss = 2 wins to catch up.

I remember sitting there with my brother and adding all the wins and losses up before the internet was a thing.

I remember being like 20 behind. We only play them the one time this year, so make it count.

I remember doing something similar with my cousin, we were on 99 wins at the time. We were calculating how many years it would take for us to overrun them on the win/loss ladder.
I was so happy when we reached 100 wins. 😂

Modern football requires flexible mobile forwards, of which we have an abundance in De Goey, WHE, Elliott, Thomas, Mihocek and Stephenson. Added to that we have (less mobile) talls in Cox and Reid available. Playing 2 talls, which after all, has been the preferred set of for teams for about a hundred years, would probably necessitate the dropping of Thomas, who has been the least effective of our forwards this year. I would guess that Reid and Cox could each spend periods on the bench anyway, or else providing ruck relief for Grundy. I can't see why we can't at least trial this set up in a game and then review its effectiveness.

If, as has been suggested by others, this results in a significant drop in defensive forward pressure, then at least we will know. I say, give it a go against the scum.

As for Adams loss, my guess is that either Varcoe or Aish will return. Pies by 48 points.

Just watching the Blues against North. Carlton are putrid.
If we replicate our opening qtr against Port / Bomber into the 2nd, they’ll call the match off by half time. It’ll be a massacre.

I had hoped that Carlton would save today’s high class effort for next week.

I expect Brown will spend more time in the midfield.

He did well in the second half after Adams left the field.

Aish to return.

Cox another week out with injury.

Ya.

Now they will be pilloried all week and have extra motivation. However its more their injuries that will hurt them.

And.

They have to stop us. And they won't.

They don't have the tools to do that.

Well, the Bluebelly scum lost by a lazy ten snags today so I wonder what happened to the much vaunted greenshoots. ha ha ha ha. they r shit, so we should smash em, but knowing them they will hang around like a bad smell for three quarters, annoy the crap outa us, and then we will roll over them running away, by around six goals.

Grundy was a bit proppy near the end. Won't be surprised if we rest him and give big Cox the opportunity to be the number 1 ruckman.

Yes Sier has played one reserves game for the year, in the middle of April. He won't be a chance until at least after the bye.

Whilst it's easy to arrive at that scenario, I have my doubts.

Bolton will be reading the riot act at training this week; I suspect he is on thinner ice than we realise.

And while we have indeed had some brilliant 1st terms to date in 2019, the 2nd quarters have been bland. Many missed sitters at goal giving what should be a demoralised opposition a sniff of hope.
Please remember that we have been outscored since 1/4-time for the past two weeks; are we spending too many petrol tickets too early?

My guess is that Carlton will attempt to play keepings off and drag us down to their putrid level and dictate tempo; and they have done this successfully a few times prior to 2018, and stolen surprise wins over us, even if we did field substandard sides compared to the current list.
They may attempt to clog our F50 then force a turnover and slingshot it down to Curnow and McKay in a more open Carlton F50, the same way the Eagles do so effectively against us. These two can take big grabs; Moore and Roughy will need to be on their game again this week.

Unlikely on recent form, but anything can happen in a Carlton vs. Collingwood match; history tells us that much. They were desperate to beat us late last year. That injury to Treloar during that game last season really put us at a disadvantage with his fitness after missing so many weeks. He still obviously wasn't 100% by 2018GF day; Carlton still manage to sabotage our premiership plans without even playing finals!

My advice would be simply prepare for this weeks match ups as you would with any other top eight side. Show them some respect, and disregard their round 7 result against North; it now counts for nothing.

But feel free to disregard all of the above and wipe the floor with them; because really, that's what Daddy likes... Razz

ps. I wouldn't drop Thomas this week; I think he kicked a bag against them in 2018 IIRC?
