Our players don't get away with shoving their opponents under the ball. EVER.

I have no idea whyGeelong would think they got the rough end of the pineapple. They gave away quite a few 50s that weren’t called against them and, has already been said, Hawkins spent the night not being called for shoving opponents in the back. Some of what they got away with was remarkable. Nothing new in that against the Pies, I suppose. Perhaps they think they would have got even more gifts if they’d played at home in front of 30,000 Geelong fans and no Collingwood supporters.

Yep...Hawkins seems to get away with it week after week (not just against us), and of course he keeps doing it because he rarely gets pinged for it. And don't forget the howler in the last qtr where Mihocek had his head almost whacked clean off during a marking attempt just outside our goalsquare - pay that and it would've been game over a lot earlier.

How was the free on checkers that wasn't paid in the last quarter, chopped the arms and hit him in the head. That was fustrating. His miss on goal in the second quarter was upsetting. Would have been 7 goals up and match over. We had a few missed in the last too. Still those missed by the cats in the first quarter were great. Admitely Hawkins miss should have been a free for in the back. The 3rd quarter there 2 real big holding the balls that pissed me off. Anyway thanks god we won and it's not an issue.

i dont know if that is true any more since the rule change this year. There was a period of time when the hand in the back was a free kick but they changed that interpretation this year and the key is not to shove. Stronger players like Hawkins can hold their ground now with their hand in the back so long as they dont extend the arms, which he didnt. Gary Ablett Snr. used to do it ALL THE TIME!

We were doing it in the ruck where Grundy had the strength advantage. Why dont you take a look at about 4 or 5 ruck contests where Grundy appears to nudge his opponent under the ball with his hands and a couple of times it enabled him to take clean possession....

totally agree. it was ewither head high contact or chopping the arms. take your pick. That was a gutless no call and was a very important no call (or it would have been if that late Hawkins snap had of gone through).

Surely can’t be worse than the idiots at Old Trafford doing the Ashes.

Went to the Gabba last night, glad we weren't on the receiving end of that woeful umpiring display. While it didn't influence the match, some real howlers.

It's the free kicks we DON'T get.IE,Hawkins pushing in the back, Duckwood STILL getting frees for ducking. Miochec NOT getting a free in front for getting his head knocked off.The list go and FWIW, Dangerfeild slid into the legs and got pinged. It's the rules.I can't see what all the whinging is about. We've been done plenty of times for it and we get one back and we're ,all of a sudden, bad boys who got lucky.Give me a farkin break!!!.

I think we under estimate the damage early bad umpiring decisions influence a game Laurie. Grimes should actually have been given 50 for staging and both of Richmonds first 2 goals had bad umpiring decisions written all Over them. You need only cast your mind back to to last years grand final in the first qtr when Ryan, went past the ball and took out Maynard. We were five goals up and this should not only have been a free kick, it should have been a 50 mtr penalty and a report, giving us a 6 goal lead almost at qtr time. Instead the Eagles took it down the other end, got a lucky goal and another quick one from the restart. That was a 3 goal,NON free kick.We lost by???How Much??

What was just as disgraceful was Chris Scott’s post match comments. He kept harping on about how the Cats were in control of the entire game after the 15 min mark of the 1st qtr.

While it definitely was relatively even after that, he seems to forget we were 6 goals up before our intensity dropped off: Part self preservation and part because we were 2 men down. The only time the cats dominated was the final 10-15 mins.

How about showing some class and giving credit to the opposition for out playing your team. The scoreboard flattered them, it should have at least been a 4-5 goal win at minimum

Agree with this. Might not like the rule but that was definitely the right call. Callum brown looked a bit ginger after the contact also.

What baffled me even more was when Wayne Carey compared the Dangerfield act to the one later in the game (I think it was Flip?) who put his head down while picking the ball up and a cats player ran into him knee first. Dangerfield and Flip’s attempts to get the contested ball were completely different actions yet Carey tries to make a nonsensical comparison.

This is the same Carey that gave us no hope of winning the flag because we were not playing as well as 2018 and “just can’t flick a switch”

Now if Mr Carey actually did some research he would find our form was patchy toward the end of 2018 struggling to beat the dockers to secure our spot in the top 4, not to mention not beating a top 8 team since QB match. We lost our first final and played well enough against the Giants to win.

We actually didn’t flick the switch until the Prelim.

Our form going into this year’s final series has actually been more consistent.

Injury profile is similar but Darcy Moore is a big difference and Elliots form covers the loss of JDG.

Imagine the fairytale if we could get Wells up for 2 games and he finishes his career as a premiership player.

We are in it up to our ears.
