Thanks for the memories. Shame you got greedy with that last contract. Best of luck.

Top post from Grundy on Twitter. First class guy who gave his best for Collingwood and under different circumstances would have remained a Magpie for life. Hope he enjoys his time at Melbourne and if we can't win a premiership next year at Collingwood, I'd be happy for Brodie to win one at Melbourne.

Devastated that we have lost Brodie Grundy.
A champion ruckman. We will never forget his year in 2018 when his extraordinary level of performance was one of the main reasons we almost won the Flag.
He has been a rock of Gibraltar for our team for so many years.
It is surreal to think that next year he won't be playing in black and white
I find it so difficult to accept that we couldn't find a way of retaining him. He certainly wanted to remain with us. And it just seems so wasteful to part with his elite and unique qualities for so little in return.
I understand the conundrum we faced: for Grundy to begin to gel with the midfield, we needed more quality in that midfield, but to bring it in required more cap space.
Moreover, it seems that Fly does not evaluate the significance of an elite ruckman as highly as many of us have tended to do. Perhaps this was always the case, or perhaps it was the result of our continuing run of victories during the year without Grundy.
We will never know how Grundy would have acquitted himself in our team playing with our new, fast, aggressive game style. That to me seems a great loss. It seems to me, given Grundy's established abilities, that he would definitely have done well.
I get why we have done what we have done. We have taken the view that keeping Grundy would mean that we would still be highly exposed in terms of lack of height in key positions, and lack of midfield depth, and it was more important to address these multiple issues than keeping one champion
I wish Grundy all the best - except against us. It will be bizarre playing against him on Queen's Birthday.
And I thank him for all the great performances, the inexhaustible effort, that he gave to our team.
His departure leaves me feeling low.
I hope the new arrivals will lift my spirits.
Go Pies!!

^ Yeh, sad to think he never wanted too leave in the first place. I have NO doubt he will be like Peter Moore, who went to the Deees, and although he won a Brownlow there, they never really suited him, and he had no real affection for them as he did Collingwood. Grundy will return oneday, post playing, just as Moore did. I do recall Moore saying, his biggest mistake was leaving Collingwood, unlike Grundy, he wanted to go, to escape Hafey as Coach. Sad day for the Club really, losing a guy who really wanted to stay. But, it is what it is, I guess. Time will tell.

Brave new world. Am sure he'll excel with Melbourne's midfield. Makes for a interesting KB game.
