If we play Sat then no one has to have a 6 day break

I think the fairest way is to have bris/port vs saints/gws final next friday night, so that both teams have 6 day break. But it would mean the Dees vs carl/swans would be sat night, which the afl would rather not?

Touché – I can see that now. Presumably Melbourne play Carlton/Sydney on the Friday night and loser of Brisbane/Port plays Saints/Giants on the Saturday.

But there's no convention of avoiding giving teams six-day breaks in finals – two teams got six-day breaks before the semi-finals in 2021, and we got a six-day break before the 2018 prelim, etc. – whereas there is a clear convention of giving the higher-finishing team a Friday night preliminary final.

In the one exception to that latter rule that I mentioned above – the 2012 prelim – we did get a six-day break before playing Sydney, so clearly that wasn't a factor that time around.

Yeah, I thought of that. Ew.

Still, could see it as a chance to heal some of those 2002–2003 scars?

Like 2010 and Geelong, heal them by beating in an earlier final

Its out of port, gws or saints in my mind.

If lions beat port at the gabba.

I think we will play gws is my gut feel and that port will lose to lions and then gws.

Lions play Carlton in the other preliminary final.

Port Adelaide - we beat them twice
Why not a third time?

PA would be suffering from a psychological condition (magpie nightmares) right now!

Think the Saints are the easiest of the four possible sides.

Personally, I think we’ll play Port if results go the way I expect.

Without getting too far ahead, and although very unlikely, how good would a Collingwood carlton GF be? I've waited 42 years for this!

It won't be the saints, GWS will destroy them.

It's going to be Port... lock it in.

Pies v Lions GF.

I voted St Kilda, of course, as they are the weakest side out there. But I think it’s 80% likely to be Port.

Given we finished 1st we should be given the honour of playing Friday night and potentially having the extra day if we win. But who knows would be good if we play Friday and our opponents only have a 6 day break.

Either way in the Prelim we won’t have to worry about a guy called Gawn marking our kicks down the line or the get out of jail marks he took when Melbourne was coming out from deep in defence.

Danger game. Despite winning 2 games for the season, the Tooleybuc Manangatang Saints are due...

Port might well beat the Lions. Will be funny if it happens.
