Hi all, quick question/poll – I'm trying to weigh up whether to just buy the grand final on DVD (which hit the shelves today, I believe: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/afl-premiers-2023-collingwood-2023-dvd) or wait for a complete finals series box set. The latter would probably be my first choice, but the only listing I can find suggests it's not coming out until late November, and is pretty pricy: https://www.sanity.com.au/products/2862544/AFL---2023-Premiers-Victory-Pack

I also saw this, which looks pretty amazing (and I can only imagine must require a lot of shelf space): https://www.dvdland.com.au/products/AFL-Premiers-2023-Complete-Season-Collection.html

What are you getting? Or are you one of those people who (for shame) don't even own a DVD player any more?

Probably the full season one, but like 2010 I’ll probably buy each one as it comes out and end up with 3 copies of the game!!! But the full season one isn’t that big I don’t think, pretty sure I saw the Geelong one at JB last week.

I think the victory park you referenced is the DVD and Blu Ray of the grand final plus the 2 finals judging by the Geelong one on sale from last year.

I wouldn’t mind a release with the full pre match entertainment stuff on it, Ch7 replay says it includes the pre match entertainment but cuts out before it began.

Hmm, not a great review of the last complete season collection on the JB Hi-Fi website:

https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/afl-premiers-2022-geelong-cats-season-collection-2022-dvd

Quote:
A sport DVD, as madman entertainment apparently does not know, cannot be reproduced at 25 frames per second with a 576 interlaced field. In layman's terms, it looks like a bad computer stream. The previous distributors of AFL content knew this, and always released DVDs with 50 frames per second.

Not sure if that applies just to this box set or to all of the DVDs / Blu-rays on offer.

After your post David I’ve checked the reviews, got the same complaints on all Geelong products, including the blu ray version!

That's disappointing. Can only hope they took the feedback on board after last year and have actually improved the image quality this year!

Is there also a video of the whole lap of honour?

Even better the whole Channel 7 post game telecast?

Oh, come backs 80s & 90s; all is forgiven...

Bringing home a new-release movie from the video library, loading it in your player, only to find the previous renter's machine had chewed the absolute arse out of it, with picture flutter and audio drop out.

Payback was grabbing a mate's VHS machine for the weekend and cabling it up to yours, buying a few 4-hour blank tapes, hiring your fav films and doing a marathon bootleg session.
Sticking it to da man. Laughing

Remember: Be Kind; Rewind! Cool

Love VHS and still buy them from time to time when I find them at op shops, but don't tell anyone! Wink

Hubby is really dialing it up for you. Are you going male-male, male-female or female-female? Wink
