I'm sure you would like to think it's a "race" thing Tannin, but I assure you in my case at least it's not, it may have something to do with the attention seeking nature of both parties, but race...nah.
I have admitted I could be completely wrong about harry. |

Harry has mental health issues
He does not have the mental health to play AFL footy, & he has told the Media & the Club
Side by Side, Harry is not Healthy enough to play the game
Its time we let him go & find his own peace

^^ dtm I've seen some tanties in my time in the workplace, and the only reason you sack someone for it is when they're psychos that you want to get rid of anyway.
Harry is a good lad and a solid citizen who just needs a little understanding right now. He is also a champion footballer who can help us beat: Hawthorn, Geelong, Sydney, Freo and the rest in the finals.

This is where it's tricky, I would argue blowing the back of your head out is as effective as OD'ing. |
Wow, that's a pretty extreme example. Most people who have OD'd that I I see are for self harm or a situational crisis whereby a person say feels suicidal at the time but post the OD (often combined with alcohol and or drugs) are not suicidal, perhaps regretful, embarrassed or are ambivalent & can be assisted.
A gun shot to the head leaves decidedly less room for negotiation & communication let alone assessment & treatment.
Anyway this is a bit too murky to continue....

Its not for us to judge someone's, I don't know, fortitude?

Our club is in great hands..We have a marvellous leader in Nathan Buckley.This guy is all class.
Mental illness. Mental Health. We havn't touched on this subject in Australia..Its rampant, We see it every day and many of us have at least one family member suffering from various types of mental illness. No one cares paticularly Governments= Progamme's beng cut, No more funding or severe cut back on funding and or a general lack of care towards mental health and people suffering mental illness. Discrimination in our society toward the mentally ill is rife.
Tomorrow we will talk about something else, Another day another drama...Mental health will again be forgotten.

Ignorance is not curable. A doctor cannot cure a patient who doesnt believe that he is sick because the patient will never seek the treatment. it is the same with ignorance. Most ignorant people respond to their diagnosis by dismissing it as the "other guys problem". Hence the reason most ignorant people have described the Goodes and the Harry incidents as much ado about nothing and that each guy simply needs to hardenthefuckup!
Personally, i dont think this or the Goodes issue comes down to ignoirance in Australia because i actually think we, as australians are not ignorant. I think we are just at times a little insensitive to others who are different to us (and different comes in a multitide of guises - race, mental health, etc.). as i've shown through other OPs, australia is doing better than most other countries in this regard, but on the occassions when some poeple appear to you to be ignorant, I think they are just being insensitive.
