Don't agree with that. Adams is a better player then JT |

I'd have both over Blair, Kennedy, Goldsack every time |
I'm not sure we'll fit Adams, Thomas, Ball and Beams all in the same team too often this year. It's nice to have hard players, but you do need some different types as well. |
I agree. Laters Ball.
JT isn't just hard. In fact at his height/weight it's impressive that we'd categorise him as such. What he is, is instinctive and aggressive in the way he 'takes the game on'. He isn't quick but he is dynamic.
So is Adams, but Ball is more your dour steady inside mid. I expect him to struggle for selection by the second half of the season _________________ they can smell what we're cookin' |

I think Kennedy would have been handy in the forward line, but never mind. |

Thanks & Cheers, beers we have, the coverage is the potential problem, Go Pies. _________________ In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments took your breath away |

Watched 2/3s of the VFL game from Friday today and Witts was very good. Took quite a few contested marks, laid tackles, and provided some clever link ups. |

Don't see how you can claim one is better than the other when they're both still fresh into there careers. Thomas has more runs on the board at the Pies for mine though. |

Excited to see Witts in the team. And a fit JT is a gun so I'm more than happy to see him back. Hope Kennedy comes in for Blair rather than Witts. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

JT did some really good things late last year, both inside and slightly more attacking. I don't think anyone could call him an outside mid but he is developing more in the mould of a Beams rather than a Ball / Mitchell me thinks. I hope he can keep progressing in that direction, although another Ball wouldn't be the end of the world
I suspect Witts wont play but great to see him named, he needs to play a bit not only for Grundy but also for his confidence and development.

Blair should make way for Kennedy if Witts is to play which is still doubtful given the weather conditions. |
My assumption on Adams is based on his career to date and has nothing to do with his short stint with us. He is a B-grade inside mid with a healthy dose of mongrel and nothing more IMHO.
Thomas has shown far more than him when healthy, I have no idea how anyone can argue with that. Doesn't mean it won't change in the future but thats the current status quo. |
My comment wasn't about a direct comparison between Adams and Thomas.
I'm a fan of Thomas and was one of the posters who maintained the faith in his ability throughout the injury setbacks but I also like what I see in Adams and I find it quite bizarre some people (not necessarily yourself) have already taken a negative mindset against him.
For the record here you can find some stats comparing the two:

Just as Dwyer is to Beams, Thomas is to Elliott.

I am really happy to see Josh Thomas back...he is an awesome addition.. a real gun midfielder. I am also really happy to see Jarrod Witts selected. I agree with all those who believe that regardless of conditions, we should have Witts there to support Grundy... Jessie White is starting to fire...and with his pace and athleticism we aren't slow on the forward line. Also with Jarrod Witts up forward and Travis Cloke becoming much more mobile (drawing the lessons from last week) we can really change up our forward structure unpredictably.
I think our game against Geelong shows that we are a very good side and I am very optimistic about the game tomorrow night. Go pies! |

IM probably from the old school of footy, but can someone tell me, why cant we play Grundy in the ruck, interchanging with Witts at full forward, even if its wet ? Big guys don't get any smaller as the game goes on into the second half, as ol jack dyer used to say. Surely, interchanging these two big units at FF, may strike terror into the tigers. ? _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.
