Why would anyone want to crash this little gathering of the Dunning-Kruger society?

Tonight belongs to you! Celebrate!

Oh Redlight
I am waiting for you on the dark side.
can't wait until you join me.
I remember your promise from last year.

If the year continues like this then Buckley is finished, no doubt.

That said, we’re only two rounds in, so don’t get too engorged. Also, I feel like this might be a good time to make some things abundantly clear, just in case things do collapse in a steaming heap;

1) I will have to decline your generous offer to join the dark side, regardless of the outcomes this year. If Buckley loses his job I expect all Collingwood supporters to wish him well and see him off with grace, and indeed, with all of our best wishes (unless he goes to another club).

2) Buckley going will not, in any way, reflect well upon the fleet of the eternally discontented gathered here.

3) Your arguments throughout the years have been, shall we say, underwhelming. They remain so, even if you get your wish.

4) It is certainly possible to get what you want even if your behaviour has been appalling - and even if nearly everything you say is utter bulltish. Just ask Donald Trump.

5) If the coach does go then we’re simply resetting the timer. It will not take long for the usual suspects to start bagging our next coach/assistant/recruiter/president/ceo/player. The targets may change, the behaviour will not. It’s what you guys do.

6) The rest of us will give all our support to the staff and players of the club. We will take no pleasure in the failure of anyone associated with Collingwood. Instead we will ride out the rough times and revel even more in the wins.

7) Enjoy your pyrrhic victories while you can. When things get better I, for one, will remember who went missing when the chips were down. Regardless of who the coach is.

I am not really sure what you mean when you say "Enjoy your phyrric victories while you can". My assumption is that everyone on this board is a Collingwood supporter and most have the best interests of the club at heart. What is in the best interests of the club is the issue.

If I can ignore references to the transition of coaches pros and cons, I loved Buckley as a player and was very eager for him to be appointed coach. He had my support for a number of years. When I now ask myself why, I can only put it down to considering him as one of the club's greatest players. I had not considered him as I should have, which was as a young, inexperienced coach.

There is talent in the list and the club has had recent expectations of success. I am sure all here remember Gary Pert's comments prior to the start of last season.

By mid last season my thoughts on Buckley the coach had changed.I had decided that he was unsuitable for the job and that he should go. I formed that opinion well after some others on this board. Maybe they are more perceptive than I am. Since that time many others have reached the same conclusion.

I don't believe that any of us see it as a victory if we lose. I don't think that any of us will see it as a victory if Buckley is sacked. I would look at that as a necessary evil, and be quite sad about it at the same time. My preference is for a remarkable turnaround and for us to win the premiership with Buckley as coach. But, the reality is, that is just a dream and we have to live with reality.

Surely Buckley walks soon. He is going to be grilled in the media and there just seems no progression in the list and team. He is a perfectionist and he would deduce he is in a no win situation.

I expect the first thrashing we have this year will see him gone.

Always here win lose or draw. I never run away dude. Happy to face the music and be challenged and confronted. That's the fun of a discussion board. Take the good with the bad and ugly, just like in life dude.
As for the Richmond game, I have no major excuses/answers/reasons for the loss and the minor answers I have won’t cut the mustard with you anyway, I already know that sure it's all good.
My opinion only. It WAS a very bad loss, no doubt at all about it. I thought that a few 50 - 50 decisions went against us at crucial times but that is no excuse because that is football. Our kicking for goal let us down, as did our field kicking and slow transition from defence to attack. A few players were down on form and confidence while others like Grundy, Treloar and Pendles tried their guts out.
I have no more to add except that it was a very bad loss and was extremely unpalatable and hard to accept/deal with. I'm very down about it today but my passion for Collingwood remains and will do so forever. Confused Surprised

I do hope Buckley walks in enough time for the Club to bottom out completely this year.

It all comes down to the stubbornness of Buckley. If Hird and Voss are any indication, he'll have to be pushed.

I am hoping Bucks is a better man than those two and can walk away now so the club can start the rebuilding and not do so behind his back.

I'd find it upsetting if Bucks was to be sacked after Rd 22 and then a new coach appointed shortly thereafter knowing the dealing was done behind the coaches back.

If Bucks can walk, the club can openly commence the discussions that need to happen to start the next dynasty.

Bucks has already said, he will walk if no Finals this season, so I don't know what all the angst is about, and its useless appointing a stop gap coach now.

The benefit is you can start the process to find a new coach immediately.

You can have the new coach to view the list and make changes before the trade and draft period depending on his strategy.

It also gives you the best chance to get the best candidate as you have a break on other clubs seeking coaches.

If you keep Buckley in the seat you delay all that.

True Thommo, very true, we are all on the same side, pissed off and upset as all hell, just hope the players are feeling it too. As I have already said on other threads, if we had kicked the goals we damn well should have, last weeik and this, wed be 2-zip and not having all this angst. Our misses both weeks were beyond the pale, a total joke, we need to recast our entire forward line, Bucks must roll the dice now. !

Drop Fas, to lazy, and White, bring in Jamie Elliott and Daicos jnr now, and young Kirby too. Put Howe next to Darcy, drop Blair too, and put Keefe downback to take over from Howe. We MUST roll the dice now, we cannot persist with this totally dysfunctional forward line. LIke, we get the frigging pill up there heaps of times, but theres nobody to finish off, this has to be addressed now, its past time. Idea Idea

Hmmm, mods are effectively the designated drivers of the board, so I'll buy you a shandy and then fruit juice to the equivalent value.

We would be mad not to seriously consider coaching alternatives at this point in time. Enough is enough. Thursday night should've been the wake up call. We all saw it. It was an effen trainwreck. We've gone backwards and the future looks grim. No other club would've tolerated this mess for so long. Well... 9thmond maybe but that's beside the point.
