That's quite silly, PnC. They won't be playing in September, so this is their 2016 game against Collingwood at the MCG. It's really the ideal opportunity for them to celebrate not losing a Grand Final and, as it happens, for Collingwood to rain on their parade.

If Collingwood can't beat them tomorrow, however motivated St Kilda might be, then we completely suck.

Pretty weird that we spent the whole of the NAB cup
with 2 rucks and a tall forward line and now we do the opposite.
Stupid planning.

not really. i am sure it will come in handy at some point in the season. with the change to the deliberate out of bounds rule and less stoppages two rucks are not required right now. as fatigue sets in over the course of the season two rucks might be the way to go.

The NAB challenge is the time to experiment but as yet the two ruck setup hasn't worked well during the H&A season.

Personally I don't like using young Moore in the ruck as he's to valuable a commodity.

Let's use White. Laughing

Howe at 190cm and with the ability to stand on blokes heads is the mobile third tall forward option.

some might argue the case against but it's not a circus. Laughing

i am looking forward to seeing what howe has to offer. presumably he will play as a high half forward or a link?

They might play in september, bit early too write em off yet, their form in round one was pretty good, i never take any game for granted. And you can bet their cheer squad will mention 66 on their banner, thats a gimme. True, if we lost this one, Nicks would implode and suck itself into a black hole of utter angst and woe. ! We should win tho, by around four goals, at least. Cool

Remember, there were 6 on the bench in the NAB games. The problem was that neither Witts or Grundy did much as resting forwards, which is why we ended up relying on Gault, who showed good form in the NAB. Unfortunately, Gault was found wanting in his 2 games of the season proper. At some stage I'd expect to see both Witts and Grundy used together. We look a faster team with just the one proper ruckman, but its tempting fate, because if Grundy got injured, Moore and Cloke would have to step up.

Down the track, if Cox can continue to improve, he'd be a great option to partner our first ruck - Grundy or Witts - because he seems to be a better forward option than our other rucks.

We looked better in the NAB than the last 2 weeks.
What was the point in going tall in the NAB?
Given Gault just 2 games and then back to the VfL
does nothing for his confidence.
My point is you back a plan and keep with it for a fair time.
Otherwise it is Wishy Washy!!!!!!

Gault has been poor and is yet to dominate at VFL level let alone an AFL game that matters.

He and Macaffer being dropped this week was a no brainer IMO.

Agreed I also think Moore is too important up forward than helping out in the ruck. The only reason going shorter is that the gutter crawlers have some speed and we have to match that!

I agree, keep Moore out of the ruck. Why not play Clokey as your second ruckman? Don't worry too much about tapouts, he just needs to compete. And given his supposed 'tank', he should be too mobile for most opposing ruck around the ground.

It is the same reason really to play Cloke in the ruck rather than Moore. Moore is now our most valuable forward, which makes Clokey available now for the odd rucking injury.

The match committee were right in dropping Gault, Macaffer and Frost because they were not up to AFL standard. Blair is not either. We are not going to be contenders in 2016 so we should be looking to set up a team to have a crack next year.

I actually think that Gault's good NAB form, took the club by surprise and forced them to re-think their plans for the season proper. My sense all along was that they were hoping to use Witts and Grundy. But once Gault played so well in the NAB, the club was forced to give him a chance in the real stuff, but sadly, he looked way out of his depth when given the chance, so had to be dropped. I also think that Bucks (like me) was extremely disappointed by Witts' insipid performance in round one, so he will have to earn his return by showing good form in the VFL.

I could have told them that Gaulty will rise again!
