Can't GWS take him now as an uncontracted player and provide us with compensation?

Is it too late to do that?

We'd probably get a first round pick based on what the AFL have given other clubs.

Holy shit, we have to hang on to him. We have to!!

We are walking the path that St Kilda have trod!

A lost grand final
A coach that's walked out on the club
And now - losing a player we don't rate highly and getting nothing in return!

Not good enough Eddie! We are not bridesmaids here at Collingwood!!

Just cant see him getting a hell of a lot more anywhere else other than GWS. I mean he would get more no doubt he is a quality player capable of many roles however even for 50k Im not sure it would be worth is spot in the pies best 22.
which he firmly has.
Ive heard essendon are very keen. He would get more dollars but would leave his mates, the club and all its resources.
Mind you, goldy would be more than happy for him to go as would Caff with the dollars it would free up.

I (I kid you not) had a dream about Alan Toovey the night before last. I was walking through some suburban area and found him hanging around in a park. He'd signed with Melbourne, I think, and was pretty dejected about everything.

Anyway, in response to all of those who have turned on Toovey in this thread, I'd like to reiterate what I wrote in the Draft Trade forum:

Can someone remind Tooves he was a god-damn rookie, and lucky to even be on our list to start off with. He could have gone the way of Stanley and Iles. Became a solid contributor and won a premiership. Pull your head in son!

Stay and play in premierships and sack your manager. Go and good riddance. The Sack and Marty will get more game time.

Can someone remind Millane42 that Toovey worked damn hard to earn his spot on the rookie list, persevered through several injuries and became a regular fixture in the side when 95% of Collingwood fans were calling for him to be delisted?

Yeah. Really needs to be put in his place, that kid.

This is really very simple.
Alan Toovey is a good footballer and is in our best 22.
We should try to keep him.
If we can't, we should do the best deal we can, rather than lose him for nothing.

Real question is, who's underwear were you wearing? Yours, his or hers?

WELL, if he wants to go to WA, and is hellbent on doing so, the Weagles can have him for a straight swap for Le Gras. Fair swap id say, especially now we will have Nat Brown back to replace him downback.

GWS already have salary cap issues. They need to be careful.

We'd get laughed at by the eagles...

Almost in the same way I was by nicksters when I suggested throwing everything into getting LeCras a few years back now...

One on one, Tooves is almost without peer. I have no idea who gets what but I'd be paying him on a level similar to Harry, Heater or Maxwell. Serious! I can't recall the last time he was beaten on the day. Our ability to stop dangerous quick small/medium forwards diminishes greatly without Tooves. I don't know what to read into all these media reports, I really hope he stays.

With David's comment above ^^ HERE HERE!!!

In his TAC days was recognised as the AA CHB, so plenty of people, including Derek Hine recognise some value in Alan.

Like Shane Morwood and Mick Gayfer in their time, he has his name written in permanent marker on the team whiteboard.

It's not his fault his management are tools. Bucks, get Ned onto the case ASAP.

We're going to have to drop 4 players off our list and unfortunity Tooves's manager has put his name up as possible victim of our strong list. I just hope that we can get trades to upgrade our draft picks so we're not losing players of value for nothing.
