Geezus fecking Christ, I have no words!

I think we can add Broomy and Murray to the list if Broomy does not step up and ASADA find the B sample plus we have Appleby on a 1 year rookie and I am not sure if Mr Varcoe will be still playing in 2020

So we might be looking for 11 players next year and we have no 1st rounder so whilst we can try and find another Checkers and Apples but we have a big "churn next year"

This from The Age (Brisbane Times) report:

Collingwood will keep Sam Murray on as a rookie as the provisionally banned player's drug charge is dealt with.

Collingwood have also made the same promise to rookie list injury plagued small forward Tim Broomhead. Broomhead broke his leg in an ugly collision with a goal post in April earlier this year.

I may be thinking of another code or sport all together, but is there an opportunity to sign a 'free agent' under special circumstances if one of the listed players has broken their contract/retired/fallen ill etc?

For example, if Murray's sentencing was to go down in January and was shown the door by the club, are we able to sign a VFL listed player to compensate that position?

If you put someone on the long term injury list then you can promote a Cat B rookie. No longer needed for Cat A rookies as they can play seniors without promotion.

There has been talk of a mid-season draft.

If anyone has seen confirmation of Madgen's status in 2019, please post a link.

All Cat B rookies are given 2 year contracts when signed up first time. Madgen is thus signed for 2019.

I’m not aware of any 2 year contract requirement for Cat B rookies, only National Draft draftees.

This Foxsports article suggests Madgen is out of contract this year: https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-trade-contract-list-free-agents-verdict-on-every-out-of-contract-player-at-end-of-2018/news-story/fa31f2dcd98d7846ab02a13c6363c83d

That article is so full of rubbish it's not funny.

Prior to August 4 (date of the article)...

WHE was already contracted out to 2020
Varcoe's contract had already been extended to 2019
Murray was already contracted to 2019

The writer wouldn't know about Madgen contract status - probably just guessing.

So what happens if all five picks are used for points to pick up Quaynor and Kelly? Where are the draft picks for our 3th, 4th and 5th player.

The picks don't disappear when used for points they just move down the order (if points balance remains) or to the end of the order (if points exhausted).

A walk in the park for Hine. Chris Grant was pick 105.
No reason why we won’t pick up a 10 year KPP with this pick 🙄😂
