Far more fun to carry on with the rampant speculation I'd have thought?

Anyway, my 2c worth; he is not a great kick.

Never has been, and at this stage, I think its fair to say never will be.

He's a good to fair kick, and you would have hoped for better for 2 1st rounders.

To be fair, him and Adams are probably to two worse skilled mids to come from the Giants never ending bounty of top draft picks in the mod 2010s...might explain why they traded them both....

Anyway, that is not to say he is useless, but its a major limitation to being a really effective outside player

He does have a great burst of speed though, and Swanny was never the greatest kick either...its all about positioning and footy smarts at the end of the day

Do you think his speed survived the "cramps"? I don't know. I hope it has.

Jayzuz!
Ads is the guy you wanna trash?!
He IS & HAS been one of our very best, certainly up with Adams, Pendles & Steelo as our best mid. He averaged 28+ touches, way out in front of AA guys Tay & Moore (22 & 16) Losing him to injury this year, as we did in 2018, farked our progress. and like 2018, injuries affected most of the side, - only 3 guys played all 17- as they have EVERY year since MR BUCKLEY took the helm.
I actually said, out loud to my wife during the 1st Q of the Sydney game “Jeez we’d be in the poop if we lost Treloar”
I wish I hadn’t.
Adam Treloar has been a great player, a great clubman, & as hard a worker as you’ll find at the club, he’s also been an excellent mentor & leader, much looked up to by the kids. Up until the restart of this God forsaken season, The blonde brigade: Treloar, DeGoey, Stevo, & now Noble & Crispy have made us look as good as any side. I don’t know the reason for the awful season we’ve had, which sadly ends with a whimper tomorrow night, (hopefully sans another flogging), but injuries have ONCE AGAIN shot us in the head as they have in EACH season Bucks has coached. We had an inquiry into this in ‘17, but no results were found or offered. And the problem continues. I can’t see an end to the nightmare, & we don’t seem to care much. This has not only cost us FAR too many games, & at least one flag, but has shortened or affected way too many players careers.
I’m frankly worried about next season as we seem to be re-living the disastrous start to Buckley’s term. From a last quarter fade out Gf loss, to a Lost Prelim after a good win, to a first week Elimination the next year, which we look like repeating.
If so, we’ll likely miss out in 21. Something I would not have believed when we were flag favourites in Rd. 5.

But one CRAZY thought:
If we SOMEHOW got over Wet Toast Tomorrow nite, we’ve beaten our hardest side & could just maybe pull off the shock of the 21 st C.
We’d play GEELONG, who we’ve beaten the last 2 times,
Then Ri or Br in the Prelim.
We FLOGGED Br last year & after one bad quarter went down by just 8 a few weeks back.
Win that, & they DO lack finals exp., & we’d likely play Port who also lack experience, & who we ALSO flogged last year.
VERY unlikely, but a LOT less so if we pull off a shock upset tomorrow.
GO PIES!

Aaaah seems so long ago that our midfield was hailed the best ever!!
What was it, two short seasons ago??

Beams, Adams, Pendlebury, Treloar, Sidebottom, De Goey, Grundy, Wells, Phillips, Sier and WHE .

If they were all fit and firing..... if only

Hailed Schmailed! That WAS the best midfield ever! And you forgot Levi & Mayne.
Don’t know if I’d count WHE, he’s more a KPP. Or Wells, he’s more a failed experiment. DeGoey has been very handy in the middle at times, but just too valuable as a Forward to spend much time there. Im a tad unsure about Flipper, he’s become fairly specialised on a wing.
But the first 5 are all champions, or were. 2 wont be playing tomorrow night & ARENT physically injured, that’s heartbreaking. Especially Steelo. One of the games best, but unable to play because of a fkng virus.
To me he’s the difference between being in it, & being there to ‘make up the numbers.
But the BIG PROBLEM is INJURIES! For the 9th year in a row we’ve injured ourselves out of contention. And we don’t seem to care. As I’ve said, they’ve not only cost us matches, they’ve shortened the careers of many magpies.
Pendles is the exception which proves the rule.
He seldom goes down, & has remarkable recovery when he does.
That’s why he’s among our best STILL after breaking the games record at 32.
But seriously, it feels like there’s something a bit wrong, don’t we think? I mean above the neck. Confidence is well down, the mateship/camaraderie doesn’t seem to be as strong, & I have NO idea why.
We show glimpses of the brilliance we’re capable of, but 5 goal totals are a bit depressing.
Is it just the disjointed screwed up season? (With it’s MASSIVE advantages for Port, WC & BNE.) Is it the lack of young stars exciting everyone? (Except Daics of course).
I don’t know. But I’m worried.

I cant tell from a distance what is really going on. My mother once said, some body has to win and some body has to lose. The simplicity of that quote kinda breaks everything down the way it should be. All you can ask is for your team to have a fair dinkum crack. Injuries, lack of facilities, coaching good and bad, player talent, luck of the draft etc etc are all things that have to line up favorably for your team to get the ultimate prize. Collingwood have been close some years and I really feel for our coach Bucks bc although he has had all the talent playing and coaching it just hasnt fallen in place for him. He looked destined for a premiership in some form but ....nothing thus far. Very sad for him.

Bit of trivia... every team this season has kicked 5 goals - or less - in a game, many of them several times, except for one team

Care to guess who the 1 outlier is?

Tell your mother that usually the somebody who wins is the professional one and the somebody who loses is the unprofessional one.

One of the big raps on PA this year has been their injury management and fitness conditioning, gold standard of the AFL apparently.

Did they make any changes to their staff in recent years?

Their player recruiting has been pretty good. They have a lot of promising young talent.

What posts are these? You don't have to agree with others' views.

I am disturbed by how unprofessional our club often is. You are free to disagree, but don't get cranky and make it all personal.

The other big rap on Port is that they and the Lions were the biggest beneficiaries from the combination of less travel and condensed fixturing.
I’m not putting down their efforts but in a year of compromise, they have been the least compromised of all.
It’s not often you go from not making the eight to finishing as minor premiers the following season. Having said that, the recruiting of youth and astute trading in of ready made players has been excellent.

Ads did alright on the night. Couple of dodgy kicks and missed goals, but otherwise he played very well.
