Smit is playing at Eastern Ranges.
200cm and 95kg ruckman who is incredibly quick over the ground.
There are shades of Peter Moore in the way this guy plays.
I saw him play for Eastern Ranges earlier this year- he will be a gun!

Remind me how the contracts work… As standard, do they get 6 months (rest of the season) only and then we have to rookie them?
Put another way, what happens at the end of the season? Apparently Teakle had set different terms but what is standard?
Presume draftees try and impress in the twos and in the gym etc and hopefully get rolled into the squad for a full year next year?
Be great if we can find another Noble (perhaps midfield or forward) as a way to mitigate our draft position. I’ll say again I think we have an enviable culture that brings people in and takes them to their best (whatever that is). _________________ It's never as good/nor bad as it seems... |

Mmmm, we selected a speedy 200cm ruckman for a position that generally doesn’t involve or require speed. In fact, ruck is the only position in AFL where speed is not a necessity or key attribute. Maybe we’re looking to turn him into a De Koning type that can play forward/ruck or even key back. Who knows? But I have faith in your judgement Lad, and faith in our development team.
Overall, happy with our picks. Must admit sort of forgot about Ned Long but glad we picked him up…will be somewhat familiar with our systems and practically ready to go if needed. _________________ The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men... |

A bloke named Grundy has great speed for a ruckman. I hope we keep this bloke for a long while. He sounds a future gun. _________________ I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy “Unceasing Waves” like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm ☔️ |

I think this selection of Smit confirms that we are up to our eyeballs in Lobb, otherwise Teakle should have been brought in to help with this years issues. His 18mth contract requirement may have thrown a spanner in the works. And if we don't play Fin Macrae this week then I think he'll be part of the trade that makes Lobb happen.
Also beginning to have a feeling that Ryan may be part of a trade (along with Ash) that brings Keane back to the pies and opens up a spot on our list going in to this years draft. The club seems to put players on a do not play shelf (even when spots open up due to form / injury) before moving them on (think Ruscoe, Madgen, Brown, etc).
As for Long he looks to be short odds to get a crack this week against the doggies...possibly running with the Bont... |

Have you watched Grundy the past few seasons ? He’s slower than molasses since his knee injury
Let’s hope this kid can actually tap the ball to his own players and not at his feet to make it a 50/50 chance on who wins the ball
Anyways good luck to the kid hope he has a long career he seems to have a huge upside |

He did train with the AFL list a couple of weeks ago.
May have pushed himself a bit hard trying to impress.
Just a niggle, so should be back in a week or 2. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

Just thinking about Scott Lycett and how we were linked to him after the GF. Wouldnt mind someone like him on the list this very second. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

The next month and a half is going to decide a lot for us. Five of the next six games are going to be tough. I'd be happy if we win three. If not then I think Hine has f'd up this season by recruiting a future prospect and a currently injured mid, rather than focusing on what we need in the now. Anyway, time will tell. |
