And of course amosgst all of the chaotic final minutes Richo rather than talk of what was current only bemoaned the advantage that Lions squandered

Just re watched it for a second time and I might just go for another. |
If you're rewatching, can you try to see when the last interchanges were made and who was involved.
From photos at the final siren... I see Josh Daicos, Ginnivan, Cameron,...
Maybe folks with the AFL app can find this info...
(I'm curious after the JdG interchange PF farce.) |
Reckon it was Lipinski. He seemed to be the first player to hug McRae when the siren went. |

Never in doubt!!!
What an unbelievable finish to an amazing season.
Craig McCrae is a truly remarkable human and i am so thankful that he is OUR coach.
Some fantatstic performances in the GF lead by Normie Hill. I was also very impressed with Mitchell's game as he was in everything and provided us with the clearances that we recruited him for.
There were many memorable moments in the GF but Peter Moore presenting the PREMIERSHIP CUP to his son was a personal highlight as Peter Moore was my first Collingwood hero. When he was announced as the presenter of the cup i knew that we were going to win (similar to Steve Tyler from Aerosmith donning a magpies guernsey the week of 1990 GF).
Finally, a big shout out to all Nicksters for your contributions during the year. There have been some fantastic discussions and heated debates across many topics. Some are cup half full whilst others are cup half empty but at the end of the day we all love and support the Collingwood Football Club with passion in our own unique way.
No matter if yours is an empty cup or a full cup we can all agree that the 16th Premiership Cup is the one that bonds us ALL!!!
May the craziness of Nicks continue in 2024!

Where is Qldmagpie67?
I think he owes Sidey a big apology for continual sniping of the great man.
Without Sideys goal and cool head in pressure situations we lose this game! _________________ Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Thanks, P16. I was thinking maybe you could give all the details!
I decided that the JdG thing in the PF was a clear blooper.* I'd say Ginnivan, Cameron, maybe Pat would be the ones I'd choose to bench. So maybe our coaches learnt a lesson. Hope so.
* Should make sure all your best players are on the ground. It's no good saying the play was on the other side, etc. You shouldn't have risked having stars on the bench with 6:18 game time remaining. Esp. when it's your side's strategy not to have either side score for those 6:18!! (i.e. your strategy is to prevent the best times to make interchanges --- 50sec after goals!) |

TOP 10 INTENSE OBSERVATIONS:
1. A masterclass in off-season recruiting
2. Bobby B.O.G not just based on goals but tackles and field kicking
3. Next: throw a blanket over Mitchell, Crisp, Naicos and Howe
4. Steele and Pendles clutch when it mattered
5. We were a four goal better side but cliche 4 point win!!
6. The Bailey cheat goal smothering Cox within the protected area was shocking
7. We essentially played without McStay, Murphy and Adams so 2024 here we come
8. Cox' tap out work in last quarter supreme
9. DeGoey's two goals critical
10. One for the true believers!!! _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

I have watched many Grand Finals mostly losses.
Yesterday I was super lucky to go to my first ever Grand Final.
It was a dream.
I am still pinching myself and have moments where I just lose it and fist pump the air or yell YES.
Collingwood are PREMIERS for 2023 and we finally have the equal most. _________________ Collingwood FOREVER.

I was only 4 years old when we won the '58 flag so it was a long and painful 32 years before I saw my first one.
For me and those of my age group nothing will ever dim the vindication of that 1990 win but this was almost as good. |

The good news: the gap between flags is trending downwards --- 32 yrs, 20, 13,...
But we really need to win them in clumps. |

"COLLINGWOOD ruckman Mason Cox has been slapped with a fine for rough conduct against Brisbane's Darcy Gardiner during the Pies' four-point win over the Lions in Saturday's Grand Final.
The incident occurred in the third term, with Cox slapped with a $3,000 fine by the Match Review Officer for the incident that was graded as careless, low impact and high contact.
The penalty can be reduced to $2,000 with an early plea."
Effing Cameron walks free for his late charge on Jeremy Howe, breaking three of his ribs. Effing outrageous. |
You can now do anything as long as it does not involve the head. They really are such flogs. |

Special shout out to Steele.
Sidebottom kicked our last goal yesterday. He also kicked our last goal in the 2010 replay. What a special player. |

WOW! Greatest weekend of my life. Perfection!
Attended everything that was possible from open training on Thursday, the Parade on Friday, the match itself, the evening celebrations at Olympic Park on Saturday night and then back today at Family Day today to see our Premiership heroes one more time.
So grateful I've been able to absorb and cherish these moments. Memories I will never forget. I was a teenager when we won it in 2010, and I took it for granted and underestimated the enormity of the moment back then. This time, I'm cherishing everything.
What a privilege to win a classic Grand Final that had everything.
[*] Beautiful weather.
[*] Fantastic pre-match entertainment. KISS were awesome!
[*] High quality football from both teams which added to the spectacle. Brisbane made us earn it and we responded emphatically!
[*] Holding on in the dying stages to erase the pain we experienced in 2018.
[*] Bobby Hill winning the Norm Smith. What about that hanger?
[*] Sidebottom's long-range bomb in the dying stages.
[*] Pendles and Sidey turning back time with excellent performances. Incredible they're premiership players again after 13 years.
[*] Fly announcing that his wife gave birth to a new child.
[*] Peter Moore handing the cup to his son and Fly. After missing out during the late 70s and 80s, he would have been delighted for Darcy.
[*] Oleg Markov holding the cup in the official premiership team photo 😎
I'm sure I've forgotten a few things, but I'm just mesmerised by everything we experienced as supporters. Fly and the playing group made our dreams come true. It's been two years of excitement and joy capped off with a Premiership.
I sat in the very last row of Level 4 of the Southern Stand (Shane Warne Stand), which was a unique experience with a mix of sitting and standing as the action was taking place. I hadn't sat outside the Ponsford End in over a decade, and up that high in my life so that was incredible to experience. Nosebleeds get a bad reputation, but being there live was amazing.
I really need to start shifting my attention towards buying some Premiership merchandise now! _________________ | 1902 | 1903 | 1910 | 1917 | 1919 | 1927 | 1928 | 1929 | 1930 | 1935 | 1936 | 1953 | 1958 | 1990 | 2010 | 2023 | |

Wonderful experience been at the Grand Final and seeing us win!
I must admit 2023 premiership is better then 2010 premiership, but I enjoyed both.
So happy we were able to win our 16th premiership. _________________ 2016 Player Sponsor for Travis Varcoe

I thought sidey was finished.. said so a few times on nix.
But he played a great game and his tackling was fantastic.
But that long goal was epic.
It appeared to go thru the goals and over the boundary fence.
So it must have been at least 60 to 65 m.
My second favourite goal of all time after the Daicos first goal in the 1990 grannie.
But getting back to qldmagpie67... well I think it is worth reading his posts.
Always insightful.
