Yeah if you look hard enough you will always find something to bitch about.
He and the supporters should have been thrown out.

But how about focusing on the good. ( I know that's a hard concept for some)

Michael Phelps. Three straight Olympics three straight golds in the 200 medley. That was worth getting up early for.

What a Bonafida superstar!

Nice to see our Kiwi cousins now with equal our gold medals. Laughing

Oh and congratulations to Australian rower Josh Booth for keeping alive the wonderful convict traditions of our country. Razz

I suspect this might be a turning point for the amount of investment in sport that voters are prepared to put up with in Australia. Frankly, I'd rather see better hospitals than more gold medals.

Love the increasing desperation in the voices of Channel Nine commentators as they try to drum up dwindling viewer interest in these games. James Brayshaw, I'm especially looking at you!

Brayshaw fell for the most ridiculous fallacy that you often see applied to Collingwood games. We can't play any worse, they couldn't play any better. Laughing Jim Bob was referring to the Australian rowers who just lost a semi-final to the Brits. Both teams qualified for the final, so no one was going as hard as they might have, but because the Brits won, Jim Bob applied the fallacy. Laughing

TP:

1. The point is one didn't have to look hard at all jeez Rolling Eyes
2. This is the reality of the Olympics Rolling Eyes Being a wilful ostrich doesn't cut it
3. In my previous post I said I love watching the best athletes perform at their best (But I hate the Olympics)
4. This isn't as simplistic as it is for some - it's not focussing on the so called "bad" & ignore the so called "good" - life isn't so simple, the olympics ain't so simple as you well know but choose to ignore
5. There are many brilliant performances including that of Phelps which I admire.
6. As painful as it is for some, enjoy the individual or team performances but don't be a pollyanna about the context the games are locatd in.

Now tell me how's that acceptance speech going for Miss Altona or Miss Sunshine - you know the one about world peace Wink Smile

It is politicised without any contribution from me corr blimey :roll

I love watching the athletes - actually prefer listening to it on radio while I'm driving or doing other things.

The politics of the Olympics as David was pointing out (via administration) in the OP is an inherent part of the Olympics just as the starters gun is.

Wasn't there an old 10cc song - something like "I don't like the Olympics, no, I love it yeah" ? Smile

Laughing They already have. The Kiwis won a second gold in rowing yesterday.

I see Anna Meares blew up in the keiron final in the cycling this morning. The Brits' Victoria Pendleton won. Meares' great rival has just blown past her.

Boy, for performances, this games stinks for Australia. It's like all the athletes have had a pact not to perform at personal bests. Rolling Eyes
