With the cyclists, buy one of those hiking poles. If some dipshit on a cycle comes flying past dangerously, poke the pole into the front wheel and see how many end over end 360's they can do. |

Everything he touches turns to shite. Everyone he deceives is left worse off. Every horse he backs is shot. Consider the billions of dollars in fossil fuels handouts wasted as markets start pricing in reality, leaving reduced environmental protection, climate change denial and inaction, spoiled habitats, lost species, worsened air in a respiratory pandemic, sustained terrorist and thug economies across the planet, and economic tumbleweeds blowing across economic ghost towns.
Next, there will be angry fist waving mobs blaming everyone else for their jobs in a plainly declining sector being 'taken away' by Wall Street or China or Liberals or Greens or Feminazis or Antifa or Muslims or Communists or whoever.
Nope, you were just wrong again because instead of heeding the reality of the alternative energy price curve, instead of heeding the writing on the wall and being economically proactive, you engaged in an imaginary culture war against imaginary enemies, wallowed in denial and grievance, and demanded protectionist handouts for billionaires in a dying industry who won't even say goodbye in the morning.
It's just so extraordinarily tiring. And expensive. And destructive. And unnecessary.

The magnitude of criminal negligence and incompetence it takes to kill that many people and destroy that much wealth is hard to compute. This is communist or fascist dictator territory. |

Don't be harsh, PTID - there's still plenty of GDP there for next month's decline. |

I'm not defending China — I think all nations are idiots — I'm attacking dangerous unthinking fools who are going to wreck your life and trigger calamity by engaging China with hysterical, racist irrationality.
Trump is absolutely destroying 300 years of inherited supreme wealth, power and privilege. China is trying to better a mere 30 years of harsh, dirty and grim industrial development, carrying 1.4B people with it. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Krugman in the NYT wrote: | Every worker’s nightmare is the horrible boss — everyone knows at least one — who is utterly incompetent yet refuses to step aside. Such bosses have the reverse Midas touch — everything they handle turns to crud — but they’ll pull out every stop, violate every norm, to stay in that corner office. And they damage, sometimes destroy, the institutions they’re supposed to lead.
Donald Trump is, of course, one of those bosses. Unfortunately, he’s not just a bad business executive. He is, God help us, the president. And the institution he may destroy is the United States of America.
Has any previous president failed his big test as thoroughly as Trump has these past few months? He rejected the advice of health experts and pushed for a rapid economic reopening, hoping for a boom leading into the election. He ridiculed and belittled measures that would have helped slow the spread of the coronavirus, including wearing face masks and practicing social distancing, turning what should have been common sense into a front in the culture war.
The result has been disaster both epidemiological and economic. |
