I'm still waiting for him to be held accountable for physically mocking a disabled journalist right at the start of his tenure, let alone for the tens of thousands of additional Covid-19 deaths at his tiny mismanaging hands.

What exactly does "held accountable" mean, though? The press and most sensible people have condemned him for that (and pretty much everything else he's done) since day one. If you're talking about political consequences, I guess it remains to be seen whether those transpire this election. Otherwise, it's clear that as president / god-emperor he can more or less act with impunity. One of the perks of the job!

^Most sensible people viewed calling Mexicans rapists and physically mocking a disabled journalist as instant cause for dismissal from high office, let alone dismissal from washing dishes.

FWIW, The Atlantic editor reckons we ain't seen nothing yet: https://thehill.com/homenews/media/515316-atlantic-editor-says-trump-story-calling-service-members-losers-has-only-just

Oh, but the RINOS!

Well, let's deal with one set of deranged psychopaths at a time.

That would be why the same GOP and Khmer Rouge Hat voters who adored Bush and Cheney also adore Trump and Pompeo, hoping to vote them in twice as reward for mass wreckage. It must be the combination of self-entitled corruption and global destruction they love.

Yada yada yada. So many shoot the messenger BS posts above. Who CARES what the content is, no, no, no - just look at who said it and crtiticise the person. WTF? Is that what passes for thought here now?

How about looking at the reality that even those people who adored Bush are alarmed at the mega-destruction of the Trump regime. Or, better yet, trying to find something to actually disagree with in the content - you know, incorrect facts or faulty reasoning or something.

But oh no, shoot the effing messenger 'coz it's easier than growing a brain.

Meanwhile, here we have Trump on Obama: “Tell me one country run by a black person that isn’t a shithole. They are all complete $$%^%%$ toilets.”

What if I told you that these Bush-era neocons are lining up behind Biden because they’re seeking to infiltrate his administration and push his (already questionable) foreign-policy orientation in the direction of intervention, mayhem and mass destruction? Would that move the needle on the concern meter?

The trouble with mainstream liberal anti-Trump rhetoric is that it’s brainwashed people into believing that nothing could possibly be worse than Trump. As if the wanton destruction of the previous Republican administration were now just a forgivable blip, on par with saying something idiotic behind closed doors, raising tariffs, banning transgender people from the military (as repugnant as that is) or the laughable, Don Quixote-esque mission of trying to build a wall along the Mexican border.

Don’t get me wrong, Trump is dangerous, and wholly personally and professionally unsuited for the (or any) job. And maybe Biden will be too sensible to give these Lincoln Project psychos a large seat in his oval office. But surely any of us familiar with American history of the last sixty years would recognise that Democrats are perfectly capable of raining death and destruction down overseas, and that it’s a very, very bad sign when they’re in deep with warmongers.

It is simply crazy to pretend that the idiocy of Bush compares in any way to the wholesale destruction of everything in sight under Trump.

Trump is hell-bent on destroying the environment and all of America's environmental laws; he is rapidly destroying the justice system with hundreds of hard-right judicial appointments, he has already ripped the guts out of the dedicated, skilled, non-partisan public service leaving only yes-men and criminal flunkies; he is an outright climate change denier and enabler; his policies are on track to kill a quarter of a million of his own citizens; he bends over and begs whenever his Russian puppet master says to; and he is doing his level best to destroy democracy itself.

The Democrats are always in deep with warmongers. Have been every year since long before I was born, and I'm over 60. But so are the Republicans. Even deeper as a rule. The worst warmongers have mostly been Republicans - consider Bush, Regan, Nixon, and of course the other Bush.

And you are still trying to shoot the messenger. How about you address the topic.

And calling someone a "psycho" because that person is sensible enough and brave enough to walk away from his own party when the party goes feral and ceases to serve its own objectives, that's just plain loony.

The real psychos here (Trump aside) are the spineless Republican yes men who enable and support him. And the fools who can't see what a disaster this man is, a disaster an order of magnitude greater than that of those who came before him.

Most of that was true for Bush if not worse (he was every bit as much a climate change denier and environmental wrecker, he kowtowed as much if not more to the Saudis than Trump has to Putin, he also stacked the courts, he oversaw voter suppression, and the death toll from his foreign-policy adventures far outweighs whatever number of COVID-19 deaths we can reasonably place at Trump’s feet). So on what grounds do you feel Trump is substantially worse, again, apart from him generally behaving like an idiot and being a national embarrassment?

I’m sure Biden will be better than Trump in a lot of important areas, not least climate change (though, again, don’t hold your breath for radical change in that realm: https://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/entry/democratic-national-committee-climate_n_5f3c2907c5b6d8a9173f0268). But I am genuinely worried that his presidency will mark a shift to the right from Trump in terms of foreign policy, and that’s why I don’t see criticising the Lincoln Project and their circle as merely "shooting the messenger". These people aren’t honourable altruists; rather, they see an opportunity for themselves in a centrist Democratic campaign that has comprehensively seen off a left challenge and is now angling for votes from the right. And their goal is restoring American greatness and power, which is, as Jezza would say, basically the neocon agenda. So these aren’t messengers, but active players, and if they get close to power then we should be very worried.
