Essendon, St Kilda then Freo away is the only tough streak for the season. If this is fair dinkum, there are no excuses for not making the 8. In fact, top 4 could be a real chance.

The draw is officially released tomorrow, Thursday 30th September. According to today's Herald Sun we will have 6 Friday night games next year and we will play the Bulldogs Round 1 at Telstra Dome. The first game of the season will be Brisbane v St.Kilda at the Gabba.

I wouldn't even call that streak tough.. Essendon aren't much to worry about, StKilda will be a tough assignment, and we have proven that we can beat Freo at Subi. We are a real show for next year i reckon. It's a different feeling than this time last year.

According to someone who has posted a Carlton draw somewhere else, they will play us in Rd 3 - that matches with this draw. I will post the full draw when it becomes available.

Problem is Daks, they always find a way to beat us.

Great draw, and I'm expecting to win 7 of the first 10 games. Great launching pad.

Just browsing thru The Hun back catalog, and came across this re 2005 draw:
Quote:
TWO matches – Essendon v St Kilda (Telstra Dome) and Sydney v Collingwood (Telstra Stadium) – will be played on the second weekend of a split Round 13;

I was under the impression that Eddie agreed to play this game in Sydney on the condition no other game was scheduled on the same weekend. CFC wanted to cash in on the Sydney market and use the game as a promotional exercise. However, the Ess v StK is scheduled for the Friday night, so I wonder if this will undermine what Eddie intended.

Droche, if you haven't found it yet, the entire draw, club by club, can be found at:

The problem with the Sydney fixture is that, for a long time, we will never play the Swans in Melbourne. How is that fair? Just to draw more bandwagoners to a Sydney match? Confused

Eddie was all for the idea of playing the match in Sydney on a regular basis. He wants to push the Collingwood effort in Sydney's West, and part of the overall plan was to promote the game, as the only game of the weekend, and to reap the benefits financially.

Look at last years draw. Seven games played on the first week - Syd v Coll on the second. That was the plan, but now the AFL have again reneged on a deal which would have been to their advantage.

I'd still like to play them in Melbourne once every two years at least.

Because of the amount of teams in the comp, the draw is designed so that all teams are supposed to play each other a minimum of five times every three years.
