Over 25 and is a hack that is. Caracella for all his skunkness is no hack.
Hawthorn's Youth Policy
- Keep membership up by looking like doing something positive.
- Piss off old hacks
- Piss off no-so-old hacks
- Piss off old hack coaches
- Free up cap
- Draft talent in the ND
- Draft talent in the PSD
- Keep membership up by looking like doing something positive.
As D9 so aptly put it they have plenty of room for the skunk. He is classy and would help them with their first and last priorities which is to keep the members happy by looking like they are doing something positive.
Also - as if you believe Brereton on any subject. He is a lie wrapped in a mistruth. _________________ Get back on top. |

Don't forget the rumoured deal we did with the Hawks in regards to our picks. |

the real reason why hawks wont take caracella is simple
they are trying to keep there salary cap open for the end of next year
the have still a few players in there system that they tried offloading this year e.g barker, holland and a few others which will happen next year now
they want a healthy opening in there salary cam in order to have a crack at Judd next year
the dont want to add caracella to a two year contract hence taking up room for them
they realise they will struggle next year and he doesnt fit the bill long term
the pies have also front loaded a few contracts so they are in a similar position next year as well
we have loads of room to move next year even if we pick up caracella |

Very good to hear member (on Caracella and our cap position). I'm even more confident the Hawks won't take him after training with them yesterday. Plenty of young kids from VFL training with them (Bailey, Height etc) and no older players at all. Clarkson seems hell bent on youth. |

As Malthouse was at the end of 2000. Youth is pretty much the only way to the top - Hawthorn are doing the right thing. _________________ Nelly the cow is a beautiful cow

Malthouse did 'go for youth', got rid of old hacks and then he recruited...
Wakelin, Molloy, Steinfort, Rintoul, Cummings & Woewodin
You still need experienced players to create a structure to get the most out of youth. What you do is get a crop of say 15 kids over a 2 or 3 year period that you think will take you somewhere and you play them together. _________________ Get back on top. |

Yeah, and out of those players, only Wakelin and Woewodin have been useful to us. Sure Molloy and Steinfort were good, but we only really got one average year out of Molloy and one good finals series out of Steinfort. Drafting hacks to help back up the youth might work, but how much you get out of those hacks is very limited. In 2000, 2001 and 2002 our kids carried us pretty much the whole way, which explains the second half fadeouts. _________________ Nelly the cow is a beautiful cow

But it was the thought behind it that was important Daks. Hindsight is great. _________________ Get back on top. |

If we're talking hindsight Adrian Fletcher would have been the better pick than Cummings _________________ " Ohhh Banksy and out comes the Note Book".

That is what Clarkson (I feel) won't do, and it may end up being the area where he falls. You need the experianced hard bodied players to help back you up. He may not have that next year. |

I didn't need hindsight to know that Fletcher would have been a better option than Cummings; I said it at the time. And, I also said that, if Fletcher had been chosen instead, we would have won the 2002 flag. _________________ Glory Glory Good Old Collingwood, Glory Glory Hallelujah,

Hawthorn still has the likes of Crawford, Mitchell, Spider, Hay, Dixon, Hodge, Barker (if he's over his injuries), Bateman, Brown, Croad, Jacobs, Smith & Vanderberg. If they get their kids AND a couple of vets they will be happy to develop as well as being more competitive this year.
It's not a done deal until it's a done deal.
At least he won't go back to scumdom though. _________________ Get back on top. |

Cam, I will put it simple for you. I don't want him in black & white so we will get him. |
