I used to be undecided, but now I'm not so sure.

Yes over 20 years ago.
Lost my license for 3 months and never ever did it again.
Hopefully Heater learns his lesson too.

Unfortunately I have to say I have. Not something I'm proud of, but I was very lucky not to get pulled over. I make sure now that if I'm going out to drink that I catch public transport.

I did on numerous occasions before the age of 25. And drinking wasn't the only thing. You live, you learn. Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones and if I had my time again I wouldn't do it. But that's easy to say now. I wish I was more rational back then.

I have. I drove to Sydney back in 2003 for the round 21 clash VS The Swans. I didnt drive there or back pissed but I was cruising around the city after we had won and me and a few of my mates were club hopping. Anyway there was a fight that happened outside of the club and the cops followed us around on the cameras that are up on every single corner in the Sydney CBD and assumed it was us that had the fight. Luckilly for me they didnt breatho me and I would have been way over the limit. Ever since then, if Ive ever driven with alcohol in my system ive only had 2 or 3 and thats at the rate of 1 standard drink per hour! Perhaps they should just make it a ZERO tolerance for everyone because it seems too many people abuse what they already have! Back on the subject of me drinking and driving though, IT WAS A DAMN STUPID ACT IN WHICH ILL NEVER REPEAT!!!

I did home from the local pub a few times after turning 18... until a friend of mine crashed his car on the way home from the pub with 3 passengers. Two boys died, him and a girl survived.

It really does all come down to "what the hell was he thinking". I know there is no excuse but wasn't Sharrod moving a car 100m down the road, and Chad Morrison on a scooter (he was only going to kill himself). This takes it to a whole new level. Drink driving with allegedly two team mates, one of which is a brother.

Looking back at it now if he was going 10km faster, or had 1 extra pint I wonder what the headlines might have been.

I don't know for certain but I think I have. I'm going to buy one of those breathalisers you can get from Repco or Autobarn and leave it in my glove box then make sure I'm safe to drive.

Although I think these are a great idea, if you have to use one before your get behind the wheel (you know if it's touch and go or you think you might be over) then I don't think it's safe to drive anyway (even if you are under).

Perhaps I'm just expressing my own concern about it.

With the lack of taxis and competent drivers and a useless public transport system the amount of drink driving is on the increase.
I have a breathaliser tester in the car and I watch what I do in most cases. Sometimes I have been caught out and taken the chance ang got home safely. I don't mean blind like Shaw I would be just over. As the law in Vic now is if you register .05 you are done, you use to have to be over .05

Funny that the US Department of Defence thinks its only a big deal if its over 0.1.

...probably explains all that friendly-fire. If youre in Australia, you're double the legal limit at "blind"...yet if you're driving a tank...who cares...perfectly alright. hehe Wink

I haven't. I'm usually the designated driver, in which case I might have a wine to start then onto softdrink.

I've also refused to get in a car with a friend who was to drive a few of us home. I was sure he'd had too much, everyone else got in, told me I was being ridiculous and to just get in. I walked. They made it safely, but I wasn't going to risk it, especially in an old beaten up Sigma!!
