However, in my mind Fasolo has his spot covered. |
Fasolo is more a direct replacement for Didak IMO.
Macaffer was a missing link last year IMO, he gave us some much needed strength over the ball and because of his marking ability was a difficult match up for the opposition.I'm sure Buckley had high hopes for him this year as did most of us.
I agree with a previous poster that Tom Young could well be a viable replacement for the caff.
I like the boy! |
The Caff was a perfect match up on a Josh Hunt big body type player.
The Fas was given a football lesson by the much stronger Hunt in the rnd 24 game last season.
Fas is much better suited to a Wojo or a Mackie type player i.e. if you don't give him the respect he deserves and try and run off and set up play he will hurt them on the turnover.
The jury is still out on Tom Young. I think the perfect replacement for Caff is Taz as the lead up forward marking option. _________________ Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Paine's a solidly built lad, and a marking forward, isn't he? Sounds like a good replacement, if he can play. _________________ kill for collingwood! |

We don't really have a Caff replacement, they are likely to use Goldsack as a defensive forward to shut down the opposition playmaker and I wouldn't be too unhappy with that.. when life gives you lemons etc _________________ 1 more flag to become the greatest club of all time! |

Goldy is not a natural forward!
Playing the Caff role of 2010 was not only putting defensive pressure on opposition backs but to be that lead up forward and lead hard to the flanks/wings, to be that pressure valve release for our back men coming out of defence!
Also need to keep the score board ticking over!
While I love the sack as a potential wing-man/come tagger pumping the ball into our forward line deep he is not the answer as a forward! _________________ Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Hence the term defensive forward, seemed to go ok in that role Grand Final day 2010
Ideally you'd have him shut down the oppositions Heater/Leon playmaker and if he gets or contributes to a goal that's a bit of icing
It's the best of a bad situation, we simply don't have another mid size Macaffer to play that more attacking role _________________ 1 more flag to become the greatest club of all time! |

How about a bit of love for the Caff. He is a premiership player at this club, ergo a bloody legend. He will definately be missed. Anyone who doubts his value needs to go and watch the 2010 final series again. _________________ Dispatches from a foreign land |

I have a massive amount of respect for both Caff and Leon, and will miss them both out there this season. I respect Leon for carrying through with the move home, I cannot imagine it was an easy decision to leave the club and head back to WA.
I still cannot believe he was without a club, but I suppose it was a risk for him, but Caff, I am disappointed we will miss him again this season. _________________ Ðavâgé

With spots down back going to be very competitive this year. I agree with others that Goldy can play the caff roll as a lead up medium forward.
Might be a way for him to cement his spot in this team. His tackling would add to the forward pressure. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

^ Unless we got one, I'd like to see another Pendles/Goldsack sized player in the midfield.
Sack was looking good and I think his size and strength could be a bonus. Maybe playing that smash the pack Chris Judd kind of role.
It's not going to happen, but I'm allowed to suggest! _________________ Heeeeeeeeeeeeeey, we want some Bayley! |
