In fairness Blair for all his limitations is still better than the Jason Wilds of the world and was a useful and effective enough player in 2010/11.

Hell I even remember being excited by him in 2010 and calling for his inclusion.

He's reached his maximum capability though now, I can't see him improving and IMHO I'd argue he's actually gone backwards the last 2 seasons.

Man I'm hoping for a great display tonight to build some hope for the upcoming season.

With the hawks belting the saints and the tigers and kangaroos producing a high scoring contest it seems the contenders for the upcoming season have taken this final hit out a little more seriously.

On my way to the game.. I'll be very dissapointed if we don't end tonight with a solid win.
Granted it's only NAB cup but we have a strong side playing and Ive tipped the dogs to get this seasons wooden spoon, so I expect a 5 goal easy victory.
I was concerned last season with the forward line and to many goalless quarters and it continued last week so hopefully that's been addressed and we see better forward structure tonight.
Go pies.

I'm also attending tonight and with this being our last pre-season match I hope there's more of a collective effort to take this match seriously from the players and coaches. Last week we were terrible apart from the late and early stages of the first and second quarter respectively so hopefully we see more of a better effort tonight against the Bulldogs.

I'm eager to see how our forward line structures work tonight and to see how we play in terms of game plans. Last week's game plan seemed non-existent but I saw something positive in the first match against Hawthorn with the way we moved the ball quickly from defence to the forward line and our tackling pressure was excellent in that game.

Hopefully we see a better performance tonight to get our confidence going for round 1 and we obtain no injuries which is the most important of all.

A little disappointed to see that Freeman isn't playing after a good hit out last week in the VFL and to see De Goey out of the side as well.

I agree with your general point. I would say, though, that being the only 5'6" lead-up CHF target in the AFL since about 1910 didn't help his form. I hope we play an actual CHF this season, for at least some of the games - that's why I'm a bit excited about Gault.

COLLINGWOOD
Out: Ben Kennedy, Tim Broomhead, Patrick Karnezis
Substitutes: Jack Crisp, Corey Gault

I'm sure the club will tell us the outs are all part of the plan in managing work load and the like but to be honest I would have liked to see all play.

We seem to have taken the conservative route with these selections with all of Williams, Sinclair, Ramsay, Oxley, Blair and Thomas remaining.

Those 3 names above are pretty important for us being able to improve this season because all have shown small glimpses of there talent at either AFL or VFL level and would make us a more dynamic and attacking side if they can take there game to another level this year.

Not so sure and given we have a week off before round 1 why the need.

Our selections for round 1 will tell us if they are being managed or once again we are taking the safe option with selection.

I though Bucks wanted us to be more attacking this year?

Thomas has played the first two games and butchered the ball in both.

He's tracking at under 50% efficiency across those games.

I would have played Kennedy instead and rested one of Williams, Sinclair and Ramsay for Karnezis or Broomhead.

Not sure why we are playing all 3 small defenders again this week.

We've gone the conservative route this week when supposedly we are wanting to play a more attacking brand of transition football this year.

I'm on holidays in Tassie. Day 4 of a 5 night- 6 day visit. Got to Hobart from the Tasman Peninsula about 12. Mrs WPT thought the place we are staying at had Foxtel. Damn it, it doesn't. I'll be listening to it on radio & using Nicks.

Go Pies - practice well.
