robbie is entitled to his opinion no matter how erroneous it proves to be. he is not an island on that front. no doubt the game day thread would have had some similar sentiments expressed.

^ Title of thread: "Nathan Brown is Hopeless".

The premise of the thread is bullshit. Therefore the thread is bullshit.

Bagging people out because they are beaten sometimes is ridiculous. We all know Brown isn't the best defender going around but he does a damn fine job most of the time.

If the OP was a bit more balanced he wouldn't have copped as much flack.

I thought Brown was pretty good yesterday.

I thought Goldy was awful, well beaten by both Waite and Nahas and his disposal was shocking.

I thought Brown was woeful in the first half, but much better in the 2nd half. Overall, despite his inadequacies, we need someone with his physicality in defence and there is no-one else on our list capable of filling that role.

As for Goldy, the guy is a complete enigma. About once every 5 weeks he'll play a great game and then play hopeless footy for several weeks. Like most Pies supporters, I love his hardness, but in all honesty, I'm sick of his fumbling. It might well be time to drop him for a couple of weeks and give Marsh a go. After a decade, the fact that we are still even discussing whether Goldy is in our best 22 says a lot about him.

Really? I've only seen the second half, but I thought Goldsack was really good.

he was ok all game, he's a easy target not being a KP but playing KP, He went at 75% which is better than most and only had 2 clangers compared to Swan's 6. Filling a hole down back and doing a fair job of it.

as for the OP, well.....

Says more about the Blind Freddies who still don't get it. On the day, Goldsack was our best defender by quite a margin from all except Marley (who was very good though without being as effective as the Sack) and Goldie has been among our best for several weeks on end now.

As for you, Woods Of Ypres, are you taking up comedy as your new career? Here is a tip for you: don't give up your day job. If a giant like Waite can't outmark a 190cm medium like Goldsack, he doesn't deserve a reserves game, let alone a senior gurnsey. As for your claim that midget Nahas beat the Sack, well duh, that would be the biggest mismatch since we played Blair on Sandilands. Of course Nahas was more nimble. In both cases, what you saw was a versatile, smart defender forced to pick up players he should never have to stand. Nahas should be picked up by a Williams, a Sinclair, a Seedsman, or if desperate a Toovey; Waite by Brown or Frost or one of our versatile ruckman-forward-utility types such as .... er .... such as ...

We really need a big man who can play tall defender if required v the sides that have three giant forwards, much the way that Leigh Brown used to. Moore could be our answer there so long as he doesn't wind up being wasted as a permanent backman. Any chance one of White, Witts, Grundy or Cloke - we arguably have one tall too many playing ruck and forward - could learn to drop back into defence and pick up a third tall when required? I hear that White played CHB in a couple of reserve games and did OK, maybe that's his go: spare tall forward, occasional ruck, and spare parts tall defender if required. As things stand, we expect too much of good mediums like Goldsack and Toovey: we play them on giants and blame them insted of ourselves when the mismatch gets found out.

Nate Brown is not hopeless.

The people working at the Westpac Centre on game day... now they are hopeless. Rolling Eyes
