Officially done.

... but not so much Josh Kennedy, who is in his physical prime and has kicked about 160 goals in his last 50 games, including 40 in 10 games this season. Great trade there, Blooz. That's the sort of thing that can set up a dynasty.

For the record, Judd played 145 games for the Blooz for 67 wins, 2 draws and 76 marvellous losses. In his 8 seasons with the Royal Park Rovers, he helped his team finish 11th, 7th, 8th, 5th, 10th, 8th and 13th after the home and away seasons (and allowing for Essendon's demotion in 2013) and oversaw them slipping to 17th at the time of his announcement today.

He last played in a winning team on 9 August 2014.

He played against Collingwood 21 times for 9 wins and 12 losses. He last played in a winning team against Collingwood on 6 July 2012, under Brett Ratten. Eddie Betts kicked 4 goals that day. McLean, Scotland, Carazzo and Robinson (all, sadly, also departed the Blooz) all did well against us that day. The Brownlow votes were C Judd 3 (of course), Brock McLean 2 and Eddie Betts 1. Judd got 6 of his 12 Brownlow votes that season against Collingwood. Sadly, he hasn't got a Brownlow vote against Collingwood since.

He played in 17 finals for 7 wins and 10 losses. In his time at the Blooz, he played in 2 finals victories (both elimination finals) and 4 finals losses.

Arthur Miller had a saying for such a flawed champion:
Quote:

"I mourn for him, with a certain alarm."

He is not as self destructive as Miller's Eddie, who dobbed his cousin in to immigration in a fit of jealousy. That's your Carman and your Cousins. But in many ways he was the wrong man at the wrong club at the wrong time.

He was the last of the Carlton professionals, like Doull and Jesaulenko. But there was no one there to back him up. And because Carlton paid over the odds for him, the club lost it's best forward. so he wasted his time there. and the place is worse than when he came.

He was the Beckham equivalent off the field, with the glamorpuss wife adding another distraction. but private life is private life...

And in his West Coast days, he lost a premiership he was unlucky to lose, and won a premiership he was lucky to win. But he could have been more had he stayed.

So here's to Chris Judd, Brownlow medalist, Norm Smith medalist and premiership player.

I think you've penned his epitaph, RITF: "He wasted his time at the Blooz and the place is worse than when he came".

What more could you ask of a true-Bloo champion? Laughing Laughing Laughing

Sad way for a champion OF THE GAME to go out.

Thanks for the memories, (I'll let the nightmares go!)

Did some dumb shit I bet he'd rather he hadn't, but gees he was good.

Well done.

Strongly suspect we are in the vast minority but I agree with you. He had his chance to be a Collingwood great but stuffed it up.... Rolling Eyes

Pity Judd didn't come to us. He would have added at least two flags to his kitty (2010 and 2011). His (and our) loss.

But he was a great player and his retirement press conference was a credit to him. Retire in peace Juddy.

There's nothing to say that Collingwood would have won the flag in 2010 had Judd joined the club at the end of 2007. To obtain someone of the calibre of Judd we needed to give some up really good young kids and draft picks to obtain him and with our unwillingness to do so it was the best thing to happen in the end as all those young kids at the time like Pendlebury and Thomas blossomed in our Premiership years.

Judd made his money at Carlton and set the club back years and we won the flag in 2010! It's a win win for everyone except for Carlton! Razz
