Apologies to Ted Whitten, Alan Jeans, David Park in and others

No one should ever apologise to Alan Jeans. Ever. period. least of all a Collingwood supporter.

Unless of course you leave the statue with with mouth open in the urinals behind M10 in the Great Southern stand.[/quote]

Spot on, jeans is the bastard who suelled that swine Odea onto Johnny Greening, with instructions to "take him out early ". I was there, I will never forget or forgive, never ever. Evil or Very Mad Exclamation

I've said this about Bradman, the talent pool in Australia between both world wars was super thin, able bodied men had more on their mind than sport, IMO it's no coincidence our 2 greatest sporting heroes (Bradman-Pharlap) came from this period, just happens our greatest period came from that time as well, I don't give a **** what y'all think, but I don't rate that era.

Pharlap? So the other horses had other things on their minds too allowing Pharlap to win?

Yeah they were considering whether to bat 4 after Bradman or run in the Oaks.

Mate, all the good horses had either died on Gallipoli seventeen years earlier, or were limbering up for the two miler on the Kokoda Trail ten years later. Laughing

And as for that no-hoper Bradman, don't get me started....

Believe it or not the racing industry suffered greatly during the depression, lots of breeders-trainers-owners went under, like all sports during that era the talent pool was very, very thin.
