Watching him try and break a tackle with four opponents on his hammer instead of hand balling to aish in the back pocket was cringe worthy. Hence its why we lost to the bulldogs and the rest they say is history.

Sad news, but his welfare comes before anything else so the decision is understandable.

I thought he had massive upside as a footballer with the raw talent he possessed, but sometimes things don't work out the way we hope. All the best to him.

No big loss imo. I thought we only cared about players welfare when they had talent? Razz

Unfortunately the grim realities of being professional sportsperson. If he can't tough it out and deal with his situation than it's probably better that he was delisted regardless of whatever talent he may or may not possess.

It was reported here or on Big Footy that he broke down in front of all after our last game and spoke about how hard summer is because he has no friends/support here in Melbourne, as I recall ?

Seems like a failure of:
player leadership group
coaching group
player development
club culture

But we don't dare question a players commitment to pre-seasons, the rigours of AFL footy or their mental toughness...

It must be the club.

That would simply not fit with CC's perception that every thing that goes wrong in this world is down to Buckley, Eddie, Pert or the CFC.

All the best to Jonathon Marsh.
He had a crack but it didn't work out as well as we'd hoped.
Hoping Scharenburg Ramsay and a few others that younger age can step up and we might go ok

This bloke has way to much talent to be sitting out next year. To me he was a breath of fresh air in our modern clone game. He had the balls to go for a mark when under pressure. Reminded me a lot of a young Billy Picken. Hope he sorts himself out and gets back in the game at the top level. Another miserable failure from our football dept.

Are you taking a pot shot at the club simply because this gives you a chance to, or do you actually know the reason that he left and what the club should have, but did not do, to prevent him from leaving?

Or are you saying that the failure by the club was a failure to conduct thorough psychological testing before drafting him?

Is it a failure to lose a player that is not AFL standard anyway? Skills and endurance can be improved with training and experience. Decision making ability cannot be.

How can you question the mental toughness of the guy?

Apparently he has no ability yet managed to end up in the best 22 by the end of both 2015 and 2016.

According to many here the Rd23 Hawthorn match was a demonstration that we are top 8 material, yet half our back line and number 1 key forward have happily walked out the door.

The number of players who do not want to be at the Collingwood FC has reached unprecedented levels over the last few years.

This is all happening without any sign of any independent review and in the background we had the Walsh departure, and now the Balme/Gubby fiasco.

As we roll on for one more year we must be prepared as those who love Collingwood to question how our club can become better.

Even a stacked board is rumoured to be finally shuffling uncomfortably in their limited roles.

Not surprising that a small group of Nicksters will be the last living species clinging on to what was only 5 years ago the greatest force in Australian sport.

Young guy who identifies he's got issues, identifies what he needs to do to start down the path to address his issues, potentially throwing away an AFL career... shows a lot of mental toughness.
