Just a reminder to a couple negative posts.
He comes to Collingwood as a development coach, not an assistant coach.
There is a big difference.
I wouldn't mind being " developed " by a three times all Australian, three times club best and fairest, former club captain and a premiership player.
Rookie elevation too. He has done it the hard way.

Are you new here?

Please do not inject good sense into these discussions, it is frowned upon by the regulars.

So Scott Burns knows nothing about developing players after at least 20 years in the the AFL system as an outstanding player and with a reputation as an outstanding ASSISTANT

Gee i hope Hawthorn have not made a mistake with Burns if so it would be the first time in many years / ye they did appoint a bad coach he is so bad i cannot remember his name .

i would like to be in the rooms the last few years and even in BOYD's case to see the logic of some of the STAFF SELECTIONS

what is going on at CFC is so laughable it is tragic

in over 60 years of being a supporter i have seen a lot but last few weeks it is moving up the list to potential first prize

As already answered in the other thread you have started about Burns - he elected to leave to enhance his own personal career in a bid to one day secure a senior coaching gig. Collingwood did not get rid of him.

I hope Burns does well for his own sake in his new venture.

Boyd has not filled Burns' position, he will take a development role. I hardly find the club in disarray because of this.

Hodge would be a good get, hopefully sparking a coaching "spill", but if they hire another couple of "mates" of Bucks or McGuire I'll friggin' sue!

Sue!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Please do, I'd love to see that.
You'll be wearing the H.S for underpants when they've finished with you,😂😂😂😂😂

Thought as an interested supporter I would check Matty Boyd CV and quite impressive

292 games with one club--3 yrs as captain--3 club best and fairest

Made All Australian 3 times ,the last one aged 34 in Dogs premiership year

Brought back from VFL for last AFL game this year --a 33 procession game

If he brings that quality of performance to his coaching we could be the better for it

^^
Yep, he was close to the super star that no one talked about.
I'm pretty sure he has led the league twice in total disposals in a season.
Although his last AA was on the bench, he spent that year as a HBF.
He has two AAs as a midfielder and one as general defender.
I like it that he started his career as a rookie. His achievements have come off the back of hard work and determination.
I can't see how he won't further improve a young group of up and coming players who are already in the AFL system.
