I won't buy his book as I am not interested in it.
The last book I read was the biography on Bob Rose.
What a humble man he was.
I could not see Bob Rose cashing in on his position
like Bux has.

Didn’t Bob leave the Pies to go play in the country for more coin?

Bob Rose left Collingwood because the club refused to help him get a house for his young family.
Back then the Club had a policy of paying each player peanuts.
In fact a peanut each.
Bob being captain got an extra quid per game which went straight to the bar for a beer each for every player after each game.
Bob Rose was Collingwood's greatest ever player and greatest ever person.
He never sold his soul for a bucket of money.
He went to Wangaratta to have a roof over his head for his family.
Big difference between him and Bux.

yeah and a few decades too.

I'm grateful for Nathan's contribution to the club. But he's become a Toorak toff.

In the Collingwood Centenary book, the immortal Jack Dyer wrote the foreword, -believe it or not- and he said the same thing bout Lou Richards, when he bought a big joint in Toorak, he said, " Lou is now a Toorak Toff, and ive never heard of a Collingwood player living in bloody Toorak. " Laughing

I visit this site for the first time in six months and am immediately reminded why my visits are now so rare. Idiots bagging one of, if not THE greatest Collingwood person ever, with no basis. Nathan Buckley was all in for Collingwood as both coach and player. He always had time for the fans; I’ve personally witnessed this in so many ways and on so many occasions. Anyone who bags him should hang their head in shame. By the way, Bob Rose left Collingwood as a player for Wangaratta for more money. They are both Collingwood legends, but to me Bucks is number one.

Bux is not the greatest Collingwood person full stop.
He wasn't it's greatest player.
He wasn't it's greatest coach.
And he is still making a friggin fortune out of the club by association.
he was a very good player and a reasonable coach.
And that is it.
So many posters here have fallen for the old Collingwood
problem of talking up certain people to be be gods.
When they ain't.

Should be enough to earn him a modicum of respect on a Collingwood fan site surely?

By the way.
I always thought that Bux's kicking was overrated.
Look at his goal/behinds stats.
Almost even for goals scored to behinds scored.
Dustin Martin's has a way higher ratio to Bux's stats.
Players like Dunstall and Lockett blow his stats away.
A little unfair as a forward should have a higher ratio to a midfielder.
Still the stats don't lie.

I respect the guy.
I don't believe he was the greatest by far.
