Liked the look of Ginnivan. Just a natural footballer and forward who finds the ball.

In his post game interview Darcy Moore was asked who has stood out during pre season. He said MacRae, Henry, Quaynor and Grundy. He went on to say that it's the best pre season he has seen Grundy have. Hope that translates in to a return to his best. He also said Macrae is starting to develop the Scott Pendlebury trait of finding time and space.

Slight injury concern to Howe. Bit of a limp up and taken off with what looks like a groin or hip.

MacRae is a super talent and a very driven professional young man. He drove the standards at the Chargers, so I’m not surprised to hear he is flying.
He will be death by 1000 cuts to the opposition. Not spectacular but very efficient with ball in hand.

Agree.

Looked like a natural forward in the latter stages of last year. Really excited by his potential.

The disposals is encouraging with several kids and new recruits getting plenty of the ball (bearing in mind it was 3x 25 minutes)... the goal kicking less so, underlines our lack of a key forward

Saw this on a pies fan FB page, thought I would share it here as well.

Offical Review from Friday’s Match Sim by Patrick Quay
Collingwood's AFL side had a key hit out in what was a three quarter match simulation on Friday night. Assistant coaches Hayden Skipworth and Scott Selwood lead teams that went head-to-head on as part of our Hot Pies Summer Family night.
———————————————————————————
The Stand Outs

Jack Ginnivan
Now in his second year, Ginnivan has shown rapid improvement over the off-season. The crafty small forward has a great goal sense combined with an uncanny ability to be in the right position at the right time. The small forward kicked two goals from his 13 disposals as well as two goal assists.

Caleb Poulter
Playing exclusively on the wing, Poulter has flourished under the tuition of experienced players such as Steele Sidebottom and Jack Crisp. The dashing left-footer had 15 disposals at an impressive 80%. What was most notable was his elite kicking, totalling eight kicks for the night at 100% efficiency. To add to that, he was able to find the ball in great positions, taking an equal game high six uncontested marks.

Tyler Brown
The 22 year-old found a lot of midfield time and thrived in the role. Coming off the back of a shoulder injury in 2021, Brown has been able to build into the preseason nicely. 15 disposals at 80%, including a match-high six clearances, the lengthy midfielder showed off his improvement over the off-season. To cap off a great night Brown was also able to hit the scoreboard, kicking a nice goal.

Will Hoskin-Elliott
Another under the radar game from the experienced Hoskin-Elliott, going about his business at a subtle but elite level. The rangey half forward had 12 disposals and was damaging connecting midfield and attack. His match high seven marks combined with eight kicks at 75% efficiency show positive signs for another strong year in the black and white.

Nick Daicos
Daicos lead the way for disposals on Friday night with a total of 24, balancing his role between midfield and the half backline. At 71% disposal efficiency, the number four draft pick looked comfortable at the level despite only playing a limited amount of match play in the last 24 months.

Brody Mihocek
Just goes about his business year after year, a three goal performance for Mihocek puts him in a strong position to lock down that key forward role again in 2022. The high marking forward had seven disposals on the night, and found great opportunity working in tandem with youngster Oliver Henry.

Jack Crisp
Unsurprisingly, Crisp did what he does best on Friday night. Playing in a role that saw him across half-back and through the midfield, Crisp amassed 22 disposals and had a game high 13 kicks. He impressed in the midfield, finding four clearances and utilised his speed and dash in the contest.

Oliver Henry
It was an almost night for Henry, who managed five scoring shots however was only able to capitalise on one of them. Regardless, there were plenty of promising signs for the young forward who took five marks, two of which were contested. With the experiences of last year, Henry will be better off in the future and looks to be a great asset up forward with his athleticism.
———————————————————————————
The New Boys

Pat Lipinski
The hard running midfielder played limited game time yet still managed 18 disposals in what was an impressive first proper run for our new recruit. Lipinski amassed five clearances (2nd highest), and five marks (2nd highest), demonstrating his ability to be damaging both on the inside and the outside of the contest. Unfortunately he wasn’t able to cap off his night with a goal, missing a set shot on a tight angle. Regardless, Pies fans should be encouraged and excited by Lipinski’s output on Friday.

Nathan Kreuger
Despite not being able to impact the score board, Kreuger demonstrated some different dimensions to his game. Playing a half-forward role, the athletic swingman stayed involved in the play all night. His eight disposals were reflective of his ability to impact across the ground and not just in front of goal.

Charlie Dean
Despite a knock to the head within the first 30 seconds of the game, Charlie Dean is a name to take note of as we get closer to the season. With Jordan Roughead’s shoulder surgery ruling him out of the early part of the season, Dean looks likely to compete for that lockdown defender role. Dean's ability to step into the holes, impact aerial contests and support the likes of Darcy Moore that was most impressive.

Harvey Harrison
In his first year at the club, Harrison proved to many why Collingwood were so stoked to be able to draft him with such a late pick in last year’s draft. His speed, agility and prowess going forward were impressive for a youngster. Kicking two goals on the night to go with eight disposals puts him in a great position to have a strong 2022. Notably, he was efficient with the ball, going at 100% by foot and 80% by hand.

Cooper Murley
Murley had five disposals in what was a reasonably quiet night for the draftee. Still finding his legs at the level, the speedy mid-forward has a great ability to read the ball off of packs and collect at ground level.

Arlo Draper
After injuring his shoulder in 2021, Draper has had a slower pre-season than his fellow draftees. Despite this, the tall midfielder showed his ability to compete at the level, impressing with eight disposals at a pure 100% efficiency. Playing in an offensive midfielder role, Draper will look to build his fitness and strength as the year goes on.

Final Score
Team Selwood (Black): 10.3.63
Team Skipworth (White): 6.7.43
Goals: Mihocek 3, Ginnivan 2, Harrison 2, Adams, Brown, T.Brown, Henry, Hoskin-Elliott, Hustwaite, Cox, Elliott, Kelly, Booth.
Top disposal winners: N.Daicos 24, Crisp 22, Adams 19, Lipinski 18, Maynard 18, J.Daicos 16, T.Brown 15, Pendlebury 15, Poulter 15

He'll be starting on the bench then. Stealing an uncontested mark from your skipper isn't that smart really Razz

I liked his follow up work but he probably should have cut inside instead of giving it off on the wing. He's too good a player to watch someone else be smothered Razz

Onya Ben, you got it.

First year player, first (sort of) practice match… and he cuts in, takes it from the Captain.

Pendles was heard to yell out:
"right in front of me I tell you. It was right in front of meeee". Lol

(Young Daics has grown up around the place… So it was understandable.)

I can see why Twomey shaking his head, kept harping on about Daicos like a broken record. This kid is generational.

Magic.
