chicken. kiwi gals have rather large breasts.

btw, how does a thread about abbott end up talking about breast sizes? i'd have thought other parts of the anatomy would get a mention if we were doing word association.

Well, when thinking of Abbott one naturally goes for the "C" word, but I dropped back to "B" word in deference to the sensitive, elderly folk on Nick's, like Tannin and Stui. Okay, stuff it: That man is a...CCCCConservative Very Happy

I was rather amused today when I noticed Abbott Pharmaceuticals' slogan:

Exclamation

More like a chronic condition for what already feels like an eternity Very Happy

There is a challenge here. Any politician with "there will be no need for women to have small tits in this country by 2020' might just pick up enough of the mostly disenfranchised Aussie male to get elected.

http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2015/feb/23/muslim-leaders-outraged-by-tony-abbotts-admonishment-over-extremism

This could be directed at several Nick's posters, too:

Quote:
On Monday Abbott delivered a speech on national security, in which he said: “I’ve often heard western leaders describe Islam as a ‘religion of peace’. I wish more Muslim leaders would say that more often, and mean it.”

The head of the Arab Council of Australia, Randa Kattan, said the comments were “promoting hatred and inflaming racism”.

Kattan said she had seen a sharp increase in racism levelled at Muslim Australians since the Martin Place siege in Sydney last year, and that the comments by the prime minister are “dog-whistling to the racists out there”.

“It’s not helpful, it’s divisive. It labels our community as being responsible for the actions of a few,” Kattan said. “It’s not helpful for anyone to make these statements … How much more can we condemn?”

At least one organisation has announced it will boycott a government consultation session on deradicalisation programs scheduled for Monday evening over Abbott’s remarks.

Zaahir Edries, the president of the Muslim Legal Network, said the group particularly objected to the prime minister’s comment that Muslim leaders should promote Islam as a religion of peace more often.

“This clearly shows that the government has not engaged in sincere and genuine communication with the Muslim community. We have incessantly denounced violence and encouraged peace, not simply as a responsive measure but because those are our core religious beliefs,” he said. “Consequently, we are of the view that tonight will not be genuine consultation with our community and we will advise our community of our reasons for non-attendance.”

The head of the Lebanese Muslim association, Samier Dandan, said the community “has had enough” of the prime minister using national security as a way of “scapegoating” Muslims.

“This is your last card, prime minister, your last card to save your career.”

As feared, it's working:

http://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/live/2015/feb/24/tony-abbott-facing-more-damaging-leaks-politics-live

Quote:
In two-party terms, based on preference flows from the 2013 election, the Coalition has risen from a five-year low of 43% to 47%, the largest single fortnightly gain in its 18 months in power. Despite the clawback, the opposition remains in a commanding two-party-preferred, election-winning position of 53 to 47%. A fortnight ago, Labor enjoyed a 57 to 43% lead.

I suspect that it's an outlier, David. I don't see a jump that size as likely. And I suspect also that the 43% figure was a little optimistic. I reckon they have gone from something like 44% to something like 45 or 46%. A gain, but only a small one. What worries me is that when they change leaders, the public will forgive all the crap that has gone down already and start Bishop on a 50%+ rating which will be hers to lose.

I don't agree David.

Muslim leaders and Islamic communities are not doing themselves any favours by playing the victim card again and acting like they're being singled out by the PM or the wider Australian community. The same thing happened after the Sydney Siege with the #illridewithyou nonsense trending over social media and people almost forgetting about the victims of the actual siege itself and instead directing their attentions towards supposed Muslim victims who had been on the end of racial vilification as a result of this event.

There's a problem here and much more needs to be done by the Islamic communities to get to the bottom of the problem rather than simply condemning the acts of ISIS militants and those fighting overseas. It's easy to condemn but what are you going to do about it as people who can influence young Muslims to not fight overseas and to not go down a path of radicalisation. Rather than worrying about Tony Abbott and his speeches why don't they worry about someone like Junaid Thorne and he's hate preaching views towards our political system and way of life and the influence he has over young Muslims who want to fight in the wars in Syria and Iraq. He should be a bigger concern to Islamic communities than Tony Abbott is.

They'll need to change policies and change how they communicate the policies before they get any decent traction.

If hard medicine was needed to be taken it can be sold to the population if done properly, the roll call of disastrous f$&@ups in policy determination, communication and retraction has been borderline comical.

And I like Porn star style tits. Large but firm, not saggy.

Principle #1: The amount of content you encounter, or consume, cannot be assumed to be a valid sample of anything important.

Principle #2: The differential handling of one variable in a set of like variables is called special pleading.

If you believe you have detected a problem which has statistical validity, and you have performed the due diligence of confirming the existence of that problem, and ranking and grouping that problem with like problems, you can't then single out one problem without justification.

If you haven't got the problem right, or you don't provide justification and you haven't done due diligence, you're being negligent. If you then convert that negligence into real world claims and actions, you're being anything from a bigot to a criminal, violent racist.

Thus, if you are putting real world social pressure on "Muslims" to do something that you are not asking others to do, you had better be damned ready to show that you have got the target group right to begin with, and explain why you are focusing on this group and not any other group associated with problems of like type and magnitude.

So, let's start right at the beginning. Which Australian Muslims would you like to perform what actions and why? And what makes your desire for that group to perform those actions fair and valid?
