The Age Tuesday October 11th:
The manager of Collingwood defender Alan Toovey emailed all clubs advising his client was on the market and would leave the club after being offered insufficient terms. Toovey is understood to want $350,000 a year for two years.

That's upsetting. Tooves has become a very, very good player. I would have thought him to be probably worth 300K rather than 350, but I'd imagine there will be a few clubs prepared to pay it happily for a player of his type - ultra-disciplined, reliable, extremely quick and super-competitive.
Probably, losing him is the price we pay for keeping our bigger stars. I just would have preferred it not to be Tooves because whatever you think of his limitations, we're demonstrably a much better side with him in it. Not to mention I feel we're losing a little bit of our soul.

Well Alan you mercenary flog whatever pathetic team you play for next year you can be sure that you'll still hear some noise from the Collingwood crowd next year.
It will be a genuine boo and some serious bronx cheers when you inevitably shank the ball directly to someone in black and white.
I wish you no success for the future and hope the next phase of your career is soulless and unfulfilling.

Very disappointing. I rate Tooves pretty highly, but $350,000 a year is too much to be asking, particularly when some of our outright stars have accepted below market value to remain at the Pies.

The AFL needs to ban player managers. These p****s earn up to 20% of the player's earings don't they? So much money for so little worth.

Seriously.... Its Toovey. Hes hardly a world beater and he suited the MM style of game. Do we not recall his ability to chop the ball up? We dont need him all that much and playing in a strong backline makes him look better than he his...
Hopefully we flick him..... To GWS, not Perth!
