Yes, that was very interesting. Very Happy

Good win, and more importantly, we are starting to look like a well-drilled footy side. Until the last two weeks, I think the evidence has justified some scepticism about our coach ; but it is starting to come together, which is a real relief. The boys look committed, but also organised. Having Reid and Sinclair (plus the enigmatic Scharenberg and maybe Marley Williams) to come back into this side is very promising.

A few highlights for me, trying not to repeat the obvious;

Frost has been a gift from the gods - he's not only a strong tackler, he's creative, strong overhead and growing every week. We might have something really special, here.

Sidebottom gets better each week, right now. He is really growing in that half back flank running role, with his enormous tank a real source of drive for us as Heath Shaw used to be.

The Jesse White acquisition looks inspired at this stage; he has given us a whole new dimension up forward. That mark in the square was ominous for any Cloke-obsessed opposition backline, and the running goal showed how versatile and difficult he might be.

I might be the only one with doubts about Grundy. Yes, he is hard and competitive, but a bloke of his size really should be taking marks around the ground and creating options. A few times I thought he flew one-handed, which worries me.

Blair and Goldsack and Langdon look to be the players running on borrowed time as our injury list hopefully shortens.

Anyway, a great result. Next week we'll get a better sense of where we really are, though. Beat Essendon and we are top 4 material, but until then we are still second tier with losses to top 4 candidtaes in Geel and Freo. Hopeful days, however.

Mostly agree Mugwump especially on Grundy. Brodie and Clinton Young were our poorest players in my opinion. But I have to take up the baton on behalf of Goldsack; I thought his pressure when the game was there to be won (the first quarter), was fantastic. I can remember one incident where his pressure led to a turn over and a Collingwood goal. At the moment Goldy has earned his keep and stays in the team. Dwyer certainly staked a claim today with his game in the VFL, but barring injuries, nobody else will force their way back.

effort, tackling, game plán are going great
many players have upside

Cool
fare to say that performance would knock off 12 teams in the league.

Collie's English expression is adequate. Jack's was outstanding. I do not believe that so skilled a writer as Jack would be able to avoid expressing himself with his natural precision and eloquence for more than a short while. While Collie's expression is inferior to Jack's (no shame there, that statement is true of nearly all of us here), Collie's views tend, on the whole, to be wrong and unintelligent, where Jack's views could be highly intelligent from time to time -and though well-expressed, spectacularly, absurdly wrong nearly all of the time.

In short, I have never thought that Collie was Jack, and become more certain of that view as the evidence against continues to mount up.

we really ought to implement a concussion rule at nick's.

i need to watch the replay before making further judgement but it does appear many of the good traits we became accustomed to in recent years have returned in spades.

Any love for Harry???
You betcha. He's found a new gear and really has stepped up to the plate.
Sometimes just tries to do too much instead of taking the first option.
If he keeps getting 30 touches a game then we've found another big bodied mid fielder which will prove a headache for the opposition week in week out.
cheers.

Herry's been brilliant all season. Players who are willing to take the game on always get extra points from me. Herry's right at the top of the list at Collingwood, with second nowhere in sight. It's this type of dynamic play that really worries an opposition. Yeah, it comes unstuck from time to time, but that risk is necessary for the reward.

Yeah he's massively important for us, when he's on (and line busting) so are we usually..

Defensively we were superb all game. Since round 1 we haven't conceeded more than 12 goals.

Frosty just amazes me he is getting better and better with every game. Fas was unbelievable and he and Steele just run amok. Harry brilliant and welcome back Swan and Clokey. Again contributors across the board but you had that feeling early as the pressure and tackling was spot on.

Game was well and truly over at half time and they just grinded it out.

Bring on ANZAC Day!!!
