Some of you are going a bit early with your cries of he is a injury prone dud. We don't even know the extent yet. Club says not too bad. So keep your knickers on & support the kid.

Maybe we could trade Scharenberg for say a top 10 draft pick or a defender with poise & great kicking skills who knows how to read the play and was worthy of being in the all - Australian under 18 team? That could work.

If Scharenberg has suffered a serious knee injury (unlikely it would seem at present) then that only serves to strengthen the reason we'd take Moore.

Moore like Scharenberg is seen as a versatile player able to play either end and like Scharenberg is seen as having strong leadership qualities and footy smarts.

Neither are midfielders.

At the end of the day we need talented young kp prospects coming through as the cupboard is pretty bare at present.

Of course he is not going to be happy if he hurt his knee, would you expect him to be doing cartwheels?

And soft tissue my ass, a knee has nothing to do with soft tissue, its a joint with ligaments that hold knee together. I think too many people here maybe smoking joints.

The crutches are standard thse days, like the moonboot, looks worse than it actually is but it would be to prevent further injury.

I would say 2-3 week injury if a cartilage at best, put him in cottonwool and ge will be right for a full preseason. If a acl well he gone till probably june next year, a big blow but doesnt sound that bad according to Mark Stevens.

What's wrong with smoking joints? TBH if I pass one around at a party and someone refuses I'm very wary of them.

If you threw a party and anyone turned up I'd be wary of them. Smile

Yeah I'm guessing you'd be wary of a lot of things though.

Don't worry Defender, I would turn up with a six pack, then raid your bar for any Chivas or Jack Dans I might find. Razz Razz

no reason why scharenberg can't be a mid in 3-4 years time.

Hopefully the injury is not too bad and he is able to get a pre-season under his belt and re-load for next year. The kid will be good - how good is yet to be determined.

Why am I not surprised? This kid had a reputation for dodgy legs when we drafted him. But no, waste another rare high draft pick. He will sadly go the way of another South Aussie - Sean Rusling.
He is right though, we drafted a kid with injury issues.

Confirmed by the club, just shattering, amazingly so;

Quote:
@CollingwoodFC: The club can confirm Matthew Scharenberg will undergo a knee reconstruction http://t.co/ZtVZIcahlK He damaged his knee in the VFL last night

Our number 1 pick (pick 6) won't play a senior game for his first 2 years.
