What I don't understand is where the #$%@ the other 2 magpie players are when there's 3 defenders hanging off Cloke.

There has to be a way to exploit that, doesn't there? (he said with his vast experience of caching AFL footy...)

Honestly, given where they are at in their development, and where we're at, that was probably a result to be expcted. We really need to improve our disposal, but that'll probably come with greater experience, cohesion and confidence. The endeavour was there all night, and it was a relief to see Swanny starting to look dangerous up forward as the forward line started to clear out a bit.

I have no doubt we badly missed Sidebottom's distribution and running pressure, and Sinclair as well. That hammy is starting to look a pretty career limiting.

Grundy was bloody brave, rucking all night against an AA ruckmanFrost also did ok after a poor start, and Langdon continues to get a lot of it. Broomhead also did a bit, hope he can grow consistency. We also matched them in CPs, so credit there.

The worries ? we were killed out of the kiddle in the first half, and pretty shambolic across half forward as the i50s showed in the first half.

I agree with a lot of this, especially re Sinkers. We are going to have to make some tough decisions about some of these players who can't get on the park. Having said that I can't quite remember if this is Sinker's last year on contract.

I was pleased with the Ox. I am not sure that he will make it because he doesn't seem to be a one touch player, but he is certainly playing his heart out. Grundy was fantastic. He was outplayed on th day but he will be a beauty. We really need Witts back as first Ruck. My own view is that Grundy will eventually be a dangerous forward who subs in the ruck occasionally.

The disappointing thing for me was the disposal. Good Grief it was woeful at times. Adams was particularly terrible. I just don't see a way around this until some of our early draft picks start to a play regular senior football.

I actually think that I will be spending more time at the Scoobs than the seniors this year, just to keep track of the new boys.

On a final note, the umpiring at Ruck contests continues to mystify me.

We were smashed, plain and simple.

Time to pull the pin on some players who have promised so much for years, but cannot be relied upon to perform consistently.

I'd drop Fasolo, Goldsack, Varcoe........and Cloke.

Witts must play next week before Grundy gets rooted. He gave his all, but needs another ruckman in the side.

We need to play some of our young talented players next week in De Goey, Freeman, Moore and Witts. I'd also recall Dwyer.

I am seriously worried that the Pies have Darcy Moore penciled in as a defender, when we are crying out for a decent key forward. FFS, play him as a forward. That's all I can think of right now. I'm bitterly disappointed in our performance.

Can someone please explain why picking up Varcoe was better than taking a punt with the early second round pick that we had in the 2014 draft?

Am in America so didn't see the game, but hearing the disposal thing is STILL an issue

Adams is just a shocker - the trade of him for Shaw is looking more and more awful as time goes on

Could we pick up ONE player from another club that improves the side?

Not really in the mood to do the usual rant and rave about the coach

Very flat, reckon it'll be 2-3 years (and a new coach) before we're any good again. We haven't moved beyond the Underpants Gnomes guide to building a Premiership side

1. High Draft Picks!
2. ?
3. Premiership!

Nope, I don't usually bag our players but Varcoe has shown little leadership so far.

Dead set headless chickens when the pressure is on! We cannot get a effective disposal by foot, hand pass or turn over when the game is there to challenge for. Opposition use us as a yard stick as to see were they are at, to see what they need to do to and who to play to beat harder more competitive outfits as they know we just can't compete when the press is on. Opposition Coaches are finding out more about thier own teams than what our coach is currently doing. we cannot compete with atleast 14 other clubs.we are developing but very slowly. Our skills need improving under pressure we need cleaner one touch players to clear the packs. We don't work as a unit for each other in clearances, no sheparding, blocking or smothering. Training and practice matches are not even close to what insight we may need to see we're we are at. I hope Buckley will wake up and realises what to do to improve the club on the field. But I can't see it happening until our newbies are match fit and by some miracle we can see some improvement.

Anyone who thinks we weren't "flogged" needs to get their head out of the sand. We were annihilated in every way. 26pt margin is hilarious.

Understand its a developing team, but we were smashed. It feels like an 80pt thumping.

I guess you would have loved us to be thumped by 80 plus, like Norf got smashed by them by 77, and Norf made the finals last year. Jeezus, talk bout glass half empty, the crows would be spewing they didn't win by more, we did fight it out, at the end, and yes, we are a very young developing team, against a much older hard nut side, with much more experience. Exclamation

Why would I have loved that?

Drop all those guys and throw Moore to the wolves?

Seriously some people here have no idea.

Of course, I read everything and listened to it on a stream, just couldn't see it in America...
