The club is in the business of winning premierships, not getting Melbournians to dig it.

Well we are not very good at that it would seem (so maybe we should consider adjusting our goals). Sir, i know you want to be a CEO, but the janitors position seems somewhat more suitable to you unique skillset ....

Or we could consider changing our behaviour so that we achieve our goals. Why should our painfully obvious GF Curse be something that can't be fixed? The CEO is important, but how can he be responsible for the GF Curse? Our latest CEO has been in the job one year. The GF Curse has been going on for up to eight decades.

oh god, i fear another "we should change the song" thread coming ..... quick everyone. ruuuuuun!!!!!!!

You should fear losing more GFs, not threads.

without the bitter baby, the sweet just aint as sweet......

You sound like you need to change allegiances. If you fear the struggle, Collingwood probably isn't your team.

I wouldn't have it any other way!!!

It shouldn't be 2/3 bitter. It should be no more than 1/2 bitter.

It's not about "fearing the struggle". It's about the fans not inadvertently worsening the struggle.

This is why I'm bitter and twisted!

In order of pain, for the lost GFs I've been at:

1. 1970 (scarred me for life)

2. 1979 (robbed by the umps)

3. 1981 (3rd GF loss in a row - left me gutted)

4. 2002 (robbed by the umps)

5. 1980 (we were humiliated)

6. 1977 replay (with Carman we'd have won)

7. 2003 (without Pebbles, we were never in it)

8. 2011 (I was still glowing from our 2010 victory)

9. 2018 (beaten by a better side)

10. 1966 (too young to hurt too much)

11. 1964 (see 1966)

I agree with most of that Rudey, except that I might be a few years older than you. I was 19 in 1966 and the one point loss hurt a great deal. I was 17 and in my final year of high school in 1964. Neither team was as good as they had been in the fifties or as The Pies were going to be later in the sixties. But the way the match finished with the glory of Gabbo's run and the unexpected goal from Crompton meant that we could have, should have, won. And we didn't.

I guess South Melbourne/Sydney (29%) and North (40%) have dodgy song lyrics too then. St. Kilda (13%) must not even even have a club song

You could always switch to Brisbane (75%), Adelaide (67%) or Footscray (67%). Mind you they only have 7 premierships between them.

Maybe your constant dwelling on it is worsening the struggle - it's certainly making it harder to bear

To quote the legendary Allen Iverson:

HOW THE HELL AM I GOING TO MAKE MY TEAMMATES BETTER BY PRACTICING!!!!!!!!

How the hell does a fan worsen the struggle! We are but a breath of wind that no one notices either when it is here or when it is gone! No matter how often you post, this is true of you too K! An E, now that is a memorable experience!

At least we can make amends this year if we take our chances. That is what separates the great(s) (Pies 27 -30, Lions 01 - 03, Hawks 12 - 15) those sides found a way to win.
