Should be enough to earn him a modicum of respect on a Collingwood fan site surely?

I respect the guy.
I don't believe he was the greatest by far.

An average kick, a B+ player and a C grade coach is what I get from reading your post.

Yup, I reckon masoncox needs to borrow mason Cox’ glasses!

Either that or follow every Mums advice, unless you have something nice to say, shut up! There are enough anti buckley threads, let’s just talk about his book.

And that is it.
So many posters here have fallen for the old Collingwood
problem of talking up certain people to be be gods.
When they ain't.

Bobby Rose was a very good player but not as good as Bux (see Copeland trophy count). He was probably on a par as a coach with Nathan Buckley (both zero flags). BR left the club for dollars (probably fair enough given the pittance they used to be paid). He selflessly stood aside as Coach and handed the reins to the bloke who broke the drought, tick.

Bux is on the podium for our greatest; no question. I reckon he is no. 1. The other bloke in the conversAtion for greatest Collingwood person of all time is Jock McHale.

Who do you think it is MasonCox? And who are the Collingwood Gods? Put your money where your mouth is oh wise one.

^ Buckley? Great player. Easily in the top dozen Collingwood players I have seen. At least half as good as Daicos - that’s high praise.

Bucks was a great player. Rising Star winner and the oldest ever player to win the Brownlow at 32, plus is only one of a handful of players to win the Norm Smith Medal in a losing Grand Final team. Six B&Fs. Seven times all Australian. Collingwood Team of the Century.

I think some of the gloss came off Bucks because people felt that he was allowed to coach for way too long. But he was coach of the year in 2018.

As a person he has always carried himself with great dignity and composure when representing the club. But socially he's become a Toorak toff so we'd never be mates in real life. Laughing

I see Bucks is playing the field a bit now.

Good luck to him, I'm jealous I could never pick and choose who to date in my life.

It's over with the plastic surgery nurse, and in with a fellow contestant who he met on that stupid show.

Bobby Rose took Collingwood to 4 Grand Finals

Each lost by under a goal

^ Just 3 (64, 66 and 70). The margins were 4 points, 1 point and 10 points. Should probably have won all 3 - and should certainly have won 1970 by about 10 goals. The problem in '70 was that only McKenna could kick straight and he was concussed for most of the second half.

I always wondered if it was 3 or 4 lol never cared to check. I always relate this period to measuring our club by the amount of Premierships... is fair enough in certain aspects. But too many idiots only count the tally to support their hateful stances.

We have had a journey like no other team. I have met Bob Rose, a bit of luck, and he would have been a coaching legend... but what a nice man.

As it is, he is a' failure, like Nathan Buckley'.

I've been following the Pies for many decades and I think that Nathan Buckley is the best Coliingwood player I've seen from the viewpoints of talent and consistency. I think that as a coach he had two standout years - 2018 and 2019. The effort in 2018 should not be underestimated. We came from nowhere. Darcy Moore and Jamie Elliott didn't play. Pendlebury and Howe were far from being fully fit.

Bobby Rose almost won a flag in his first year as coach, in 1964. No one could begrudge that. It was a team of battlers playing against the mighty Melbourne. But in 1966 and 1970 Collingwood had by far the best sides, yet somehow managed to stuff up on the day when it counted the most.

We had the best side in 2010, and Malthouse got us a flag. That's what you're supposed to do when you have the best side.

Tommy Hafey mostly had average sides and with an ounce of luck could've won a couple of flags.

If anyone's still reading this, the two best captains I've seen are Des Tuddenham and Tony Shaw. Pendles is a good captain but in my opinion, whilst re-appointing him wasn't a mistake, I'm not sure it was the best decision.

I'm not surprised they split. It sounds she's still in love with her ex husband: https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/relationships/marriage/nathan-buckleys-girlfriend-alex-pike-posts-message-to-exhusband/news-story/410f7565e494c27b3bdbcd72edb50228
