The best commentators are on the radio. I'm speaking of Tim Lane and Gerard Whateley.
Some people were critical of Bruce Macavaney and Dennis Commeti but in retrospect I think they were very good. Macavaney's comentating of the 2018 Preliminary Final re Mason Cox was spine-tingling - "What has Collingwood unleashed here!"
As for Whateley, you can catch his commentary on Youtube when we beat Carlton by a point last year - "Collingwood holds Carlton's heart in its hands".
Stirring stuff.
If you want to experience really bad commentary tune in to Channel 7 when they're doing a Collingwood VFL game. I watched part of Collingwood v Williamstown yesterday. At one stage I had to wonder whether Williamstown had an opponent because Collingwood hardly got a mention. After that BT didn't seem so bad. |

There are far too many ex footballers trying to be commentators. Unlike the legendary commentators of the past, these ex players don’t have enough of a vocabulary or wit to be considered anything other than average.
Take away their screaming and they really are dull and unimaginative. _________________ - Side By Side - |

He is the new Rex Hunt.
Drinks his own bath water and spends more time making the moment all about him, rather than focussing on the game.
Hopefully like Rex, he'll go on some sort of sexist rant and dissolve to nothingness. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman.

Whateley is brilliant. That call of Collingwood Carlton in the last round last year was beautifully weighted for drama. He achieved the same on Anzac Day. The best commentator of them all, I think. Better even than the great Commetti. |

The commentary was all about how the Swans where playing a more sustainable style that eventually would see them win. Then it quickly turned into. Swans need to take risks, then it turned into Collingwood by 29 points.... |

I love watching the Copeland awards night every year, but every time I see that BT is the master of ceremonies for the night, I groan. Surely, the club can find a more suitable, engaging person to do it! |

You can tell fatty BT annoys some of the players post game, with his silly ROAMING segment , he just barges in on a player talking to radio, or some other commentator, no manners. I recall one Dons player, last season I think saw him coming his way, and backed off, ran down a corridor, with BT pathetically trailing. him , yelling "hey stop, stop ". he didnt.
