IMO the players we need to re-sign are better than any of the gettable targets from other clubs. We won't really know how much we've got to play with until JDG and Moore re-sign.

Bit going on at Essendon.

Saad linked to Carlton. Sounds like he's on the way out.

Merrett has now also been linked with a move away from the club.

McGrath, Langford and Laverde yet to sign. Fantasia expected to request a move to SA

Old boys Hooker and Hurley not happy with the direction of the club and may try to walk.

And of course the whole Daniher thing.

After delisting 5 players, they could be a completely different looking side next year.

I am thinking about what Bill Belichick would make of this showing against Port Adelaide, if he were responsible for our squad. I'm thinking he would trade or delist at least the following players:

Greenwood
Stephenson
Noble
Varcoe
Thomas
De Goey
Cox
Adams
Treloar
Mihocek

Collingwood selects too many "skill" players who can't or don't produce enough, consistently in big moments.

Question on the list size for 2021 & how many must we cut to what AFL requires

When we cut do we leave space for 2021 recruits—-I have no idea myself so love someone in the know to advise

Bill would want us to cheat going forward for sure.

He'd be happy about the control freaks at our club, though.

Are Essendon Saad about him leaving?

Does this rumour have any Merrett?

When Brody Mihocek told the club he wanted more money they told him the Mihocek is in the mail.

Speaking about targets how about Mason Wood?

Then we'd have Mason Wood and Mason Cox providing some fairly stiff opposition to the other teams.

Seems like 38 primary list and 2 rookies is the go. I can see us taking advantage of this rare scenario where a club can take advantage of a bigger one off list cull with less pressure to totally replace. As I've said they should look to do this:

Cut/trade/delist:

1. Langdon
2. Beams
3. Dunn
4. Mayne (may retire)
5. Varcoe
6. Reid
7. Thomas
8. Appleby
9. Broomhead
10. Rupert
11. Sier
12. Tohill
13. Atu

Add:

* 4 new draftees
* 1-2 free agents/player trade ins
* 2 rookies

With imminent upgrades to Madgen, Mihocek and Noble

Thank you for that —it clears up things

That list is a reasonable assessment but I would not ditch Atu just yet

I will add that the pruning has commenced with other clubs so guess ours
won’t be too far off

Quick review on what's potentially available, I would prioritise in the following order:
1. J Cameron
2. J Daniher
3. Z Williams
4. A McGrath
5. J Viney

Highly unlikely we would land any of these players, but every one of them should be looked at as they would immediately make us a better team.

I think we might surprise some on who we offer up in the trade window
Of those mentioned in posts here most have low value if any but with Daicos improving quickly if we could find a inside big bodies mid we could move Treloar out to the wing where he’s best suited or even resting in forward line
Stephenson Phillips come to mind as possible trade bait if we think we can secure someone who upgrades the best 22

We should start by trading out Treloar and Adams. They are both past their Collingwood use-by date.

The only ones I would have off the trade table (assuming a viable deal were available for any of the others) this year are Crisp, Pendlebury, Moore, Maynard, Daicos, the Browns and Kelly.

Sounds about right. I know you'll disagree but I'd add Sidebottom... but of course I want him playing in the forward pocket and that's never going to happen while Bucks is coach.

^ I'm not sure what you think I'll disagree about. I'm happy for Sidey to go, although he remains my second-favourite player after the Captain, if they get something useful for him. I don't want to see a fire-sale but he may still have enough value to attract a good first round pick from a team desperate to get the last piece of a potential premiership puzzle. If not, I don't see much value letting him go for a second- or third-rounder. Happy for him to stay and be our first to 400 games, if push comes to shove.
