McGuane racked up 38 disposals, 10 marks, nine inside-50s, four clearances and kicked one goal for a total of 171 SuperCoach ranking points.
The Keilor product – who does not turn 17 until August – also recorded 22 score involvements in the Jets’ 24.21 (165) to 2.4 (16) victory.

Absolute smacking, but not bad for a 16 year old playing his first few games in the U18s |
Averaging 25 & 1 goal per game. Very handy so far. |

Has Mick's son spent any time with our Magpie Academy? This is usually a sign that we are planning to select him as a father/son recruit.
If he is already averaging 25 disposals and a goal a game, as a 17 yr old, then he may well be a gun player. If he has inherited half the smarts and skills of his old man, then we could well have another Nick Daicos in the offing. |

We’re going to need draft picks and points to get McGuane done in 2025 draft. I’m looking at you Derek Hine, need to sort this out early.
What are our chances of drafting Luke Quaynor this year? Do we have to wait until pick 40before we can match a bid? _________________ Premiership Pies made it legendary in 2023, don’t let them forget it. #Go PIES 2024…. |

^Having watched some of Luke in the VFL today, I don't think we'll need a high pick if we actually take him. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |

A bit of ball-watching at times. He was also physically pushed out of the contest too easily. It was his first game and depending on the level he has been playing VFL can get you unaware. I would give him a few more games before making the call. |

Not a father-son prospect, but Zai Millane has featured in a few team of the weeks and is in the Suns academy leadership group.
I wonder where his expected draft range will be. The Suns will have dibs, but would be amazing if he became a Pie. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Scouting Notes: 2024 Coates Talent League
#7 Thomas McGuane
Midfielder | 177cm | 27/08/2007 (Draft bottom-ager)
Round 4
Thomas McGuane – 38 disposals, 10 marks, 9 inside 50s, 1 goal
Round 6
Stats: 24 disposals, 8 marks, 2 goals
McGuane spent most of Saturday’s game out on the wing, where he swept back to support the defence and help transition the ball from end to end. He showed his class with two goals; the first being a terrific finish on the run, and the second a set shot on the angle. The 2025 Collingwood father-son prospect also got a late run at the centre bounces and is quite versatile in that regard.
Round 8
Stats: 31 disposals, 6 inside 50s, 1 goal
Collingwood fans will be buoyed by the performance of their future father-son prospect, who collected over 30 touches for the second time this season. Playing full-time in midfield, the bottom-ager was most lively on the outside where he could snatch metres and utilise his left-foot kicking to launch into attack, including for an outrageous goal from the boundary in term two. McGuane also got his hands on the inside ball and was quite tidy in tough conditions.
Round 9
Stats: 24 disposals, 3 inside 50s, 2 rebound 50s
McGuane once again was a prominent ball winner for the Jets, working well with his fellow midfielders and showing great pace with ground coverage to find the footy with ease. His ball use was clean and composed as usual, showing great evasiveness and quick reaction times in the heat of the midfield battle.
Round 10
Thomas McGuane – 24 disposals, 3 marks, 5 inside 50s _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

177cm might be ~185cm in a couple of years. If only he could be as good as his old man. |

Nothing less than a 7 bounce goal against the Blues will do! _________________ I think therefore I think - I think |

As AFL Media’s Cal Twomey doesn’t expect Luke Quaynor to be a first-round pick like his premiership-winning brother was, Collingwood would be able to land the left-footer if no club bids on his services before pick 40 under current NGA rules.

Clubs with NGA-linked prospects aren't able to call on their priority access until after the 40th pick in the National Draft. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

In each year, each Club must lodge with the AFL details of the NGA Players in the Club’s Next Generation Academy.
Where's our list? How are we meant to track progress of players coming through if our Club don't publish the list.
The Yarra Junior Football League is part of our development zone, yet no info is readily available re our project players as potential draftees or whether they've made Rep squads.
https://www.aflvic.com.au/news/next-gen-matches-are-back-for-2024-065435
It's 2024, and our Club website remains a VHS equivalent in a digital age.
Our NGA 'zones' are illustrated within the following~
https://www.afl.com.au/discover/competitions/next-generation-and-club-academy-programs
I'd like to know if we had any indigenous players that have made The Flying Boomerangs, namely the 25 most talented Indigenous players selected from the Kickstart Championships.
Another example is the 2024 AFL Under 16 National Championships have just been played. Did any of our NT NGA feature?
And in case any of you say that it's not of interest, NB there was a B. Barwick playing for Tasmania. Another Barwick, AFLW's Brooke Barwick was recently drafted by Western Bulldogs While I suspect it's surname only, might a son of Doug be playing that we've overlooked?
