foxy, you should take the petition to the dome on sunday and collect as many signatures as you can by standing outside the ground or walking around in the ground collecting signatures, even if you only get a couple or a whole heaps,it all helps in the end..

The petition is a brilliant idea, tell your friends! I'm going to tell people at the game on Sunday and spread the word. It'd be good if the petition's URL address could be advertised, somehow, possibly leaflet/pamphlet-type pieces of paper that could be handed out at matches? Get to work people!

The proposed march is also a goodie.

foxy will probably be speaking about it on SEN (ie. either tonight, or next week), on The Nightwatchmen with Mark Doran, so hopefully that will inject alot of other signatures.

Nicko - like the idea. i've been thinkin of something similar but haven't had time this week to sort it all out.

it'd be sweeeet if people could spread the word around a bit on sunday. print out the link & pass it around. if you can be bothered, that'd be a brilliant help. this'll be a long-term thing so we've got plenty of other games coming up to promote the petition more heavily.

cheers, & keep them signatures rolling in!

A better game would be the Anzac Day clash, there would be a lot more people at the game and would make for many more signatures.

The hand written petition reads as folows

We the undersigned, love our respective AFL clubs.

With this petition we surrender our onfield/offield rivalries and together express a vehement discontent with current AFL policy.

We believe it to be unfair, unjust and fundamentally nonsensical that two AFL clubs ( the Brisbane Lions and the Sydney Swans ) are granted an extra six hundred thousand dollars to each year spend on playing personnel.

We believe this policy presents the two clubs out of sixteen with a distinct fiscal advantage. Such a policy flies in the face of competitive sporting logic.

We ask not that this allowance is abolishes in two years time, or three years time, or whensoever the AFL choses. We demand that the salary cap bonuses gifted to both Brisbane and Sydney be immediately repealed at the end of the 2004 season.
..............................................

The handwritten signed petition is gaining momentum written overnight we have allready 50 plus signatures and i must add not one from a collingwood supporter, This supports our belief that the football world in general is tired of AFl favourtism towards interstate clubs.

Tomorrow please feel free to sign this petition i will be on the footbridge entrance to telstra stadium just near the concourse area.

PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FOLLOWING..........

When doing petitions as such we leave ourselves open for redicule and people trying to discredit our motives and concerns.

IF YOU HAVE SIGNED THE ONLINE PETITION PLEASE UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SIGN THE HANDWRITTEN PETITION.

We have the support of Melbourne supporters who will be taking copies of the petition to the football this weekend.

Many thanks and please keep spreading the word
cheers

Joffa, why not contact the media? It's already been done, and foxy is happy to talk to SEN. Promotion is a good thing, it will bring more signatures.
