Anyone here listen to 3AW tonight by any chance?

Bloke next door had it on and I heard I think ot was Healey say 6 or 7 players walked into Pert's office while the drug testers were there or on the way - he knew about it for some time cause it was after the first final but before the second final last year and then his dog started barking so not sure ??

That would explain Pert coming out strong and maybe even the story "leaking"

According to Gerard Healy, on 3AW tonight, he'd heard of this incident a while back. He said that when the drug testers arrived at the club 6 or 7 players rolled into Perts office and came clean. That's how they ended up 'self-reporting' to the medical staff.

Interesting story, Healy would have to be fairly confident to lay it out like that.

EDIT: beat me to it!

The 28 November 2012 Sports Today podcast is where Caroline Wilson and Gerard Healy first mention "that they believe that there is a drug culture at Collingwood"

Interesting listen.

What do you make of the Wellingham move? Now you hear this and what came out in the papers, does his move seem like it was a 'he wanted to move' or 'he has to go for the sake of our club'?

so whaats the problem here. If its happened and they have come clean and they escape a strike is there no fall out and we can continue as per normal? In which case who cares?. If it was around jmac's death so what? I can't imagine the pressure of having to front up for a semi final with one of my close mates dying that week under pretty weird and unfortunate circumstances. gtfo.

You know these latest accusations maybe a blessing in disguise.

If there has been a small group of players who believed they could live outside the expectations of the club and the rest of the playing group and engage in drug use then hopefully this should signal the beginning of the end of such behaviour.

Those inside the club would be well aware of the players involved or most likely to engage in risky behaviour and you can bet they will be hypher vigilant from now on and call them to account even if they have only rumour as evidence to go on.

I think it is bigger than "a small group"
In today's paper there is a story of one club's end of year trip.
Players who had not taken drugs before where asked to raise their hand. Over the 30 players present only 4 put up their hands.

Reality beckons a flailing generation going through its death throes. We can no longer bludgeon young people to do what we want just because we say so; the old nonsense arguments put forward by people more concerned with controlling society than bettering it don't wash anymore.

Do you actually have any evidence, or is this just hearsay? The fact that he's at another club now doesn't stop your implications from being potentially defamatory.

Don't believe that for a second. It might feel like you're in the minority but that is because someone not doing drugs isn't newsworthy.

I see it first hand whenever I'm out. And of 10 to 20 close friends/acquaintances, more than half would smoke weed or drop a pill regularly, which puts me in the minority (and these are normal, good people with jobs).

P.S. Technically, drugs are NOT bad. In moderation, they obviously give you a high that you come out of (like alcohol). But, like most things, addiction and over-doing it can become a problem. The old message: "don't do drugs / drugs a bad" is archaic. I have no idea what the solution is. It comes down to personal choice.

Well Bound For Glory News are stirring the pot with a 'second club'. However, there are no quotes, no facts, no nothing.

Wouldn't believe it for a second to be honest.

I can also write an article about a 3rd club if you want.
