Jack, as I wrote in the other thread, the ladder you provide speaks for itself. Needless to say, the teams that have played Melbourne, GWS and the Bulldogs have had significant percentage boosts whereas teams that have played some of the better teams have suffered big losses. It really tells us very little. Port are above Geelong on your ladder; what more needs to be said?

North has not beaten a top 8 team from last year whereas Port has beaten both Crows and Eagles. North form is poor to say the least. Port form leaves North form for dead. Shocked

Both Adelaide and West Coast have been average at best this year. I wouldn't consider either top 8 teams on form (Adelaide seem to be improving, but I'm waiting for them to actually beat a decent team before taking them seriously). North, on the other hand, lost by only a few points to each of Hawthorn and Geelong and beat, well, Port.

Both Port and North are contenders for the lower half of the 8, but I think the Kangaroos have performed a little better so far this season. Port have simply had a much easier draw.

You asked the question, i gave you the answer. Swans were 5-5 (91.25%) after round 10. Who was Roos in 2005? They had some hard nuts... who... so what, how many premiership players did they have?

Point is, we've played 7 games and you just sprout continual, baseless garbage.

What's wrong with you?

Round 8 form ladder:

1. Hawthorn
2. Geelong
3. Essendon
4. Fremantle
5. Collingwood
6. Sydney
7. Richmond
8. North Melbourne

9. Carlton
10. Adelaide
11. Port Adelaide
12. West Coast
13. St. Kilda
14. Gold Coast
15. Brisbane
16. Western Bulldogs
17. Melbourne
18. GWS

Hawthorn didn't really get past second gear this week, but Geelong's loss to us is enough for me to drop them to second. Essendon hardly deserve to keep 3rd spot after three abysmal weeks in a row, but no other team is making a convincing claim for their spot—Freo, us, Sydney and Richmond have all impressed at times, but none with any consistency. North, Carlton, the South Australian teams and West Coast all make up the next tier and are hard to separate. Brisbane were great on Saturday, but the rest of their season has still been pretty appalling. I'm almost tempted to move Melbourne above the Bulldogs, but logic dictates otherwise.

As for Collingwood, I'd say we're on the cusp of the top 4—not quite there yet, but capable of moving into that group if we win next week and some of the teams around us continue to stumble. We're not far off.

I agree mostly with your form ladder David. The only positions I would change is I think Freo should be above Essendon and the Suns should be above the Saints.

Apart from that, I agree with the rest of it.

I like the lack of percentage... it does make it seem so much neater or is that fairer?

Pretty right atm David, Another bad performance and the bombers are set to bomb big time! I also think Richmond are just hanging in there and it just seems a matter of time before they find their rightful spot Smile

It's still reasonably early, but Hawthorn are just miles ahead of everyone else right now. THe only thing that can stop them are a rash of injuries or if the Cats are really in their head.

The gap between first and second is massive and the gap between second and third (whoever that is) might be just as big, even after Saturday night. It looks like two not all that great teams might make the top 4 this year. I'll say us and Freo (once they start getting all their best players back).

Bulldogs have won 1 of their past 19. Not sure it is such a stretch to compare with Melbourne so closely.

Would have Freo above Essendon too. Freo easily beat the Suns, knocked us off and drew with Sydney in Sydney. Better form than losing to Cats and Brions and down at half time to Giants. Freo have had more key players missing to achieve that too (Sandi, Pav, hill, Fyfe for 2 etc)

I think Freo is 3rd behind Geelong and Hawthorn at the moment. Sydney's definitely higher than West Coast. I actually think the Eagles struggle to make the 8 in the 'form ladder'.

I'm really curious to see what David thinks as I usually think he gets it spot on most of the time, despite the criticisms he receives sometimes.

Yeah, I try to watch most of our games and usually catch one or two 'neutral' games a weekend if I get the chance. This is mostly just based on statistics, however.

Lol, sorry. Laughing

FORM LADDER ROUND 9

1. Hawthorn
2. Geelong
3. Essendon
4. Fremantle
5. Sydney
6. Collingwood
7. Richmond
8. Carlton

9. North Melbourne
10. Adelaide
11. West Coast
12. Port Adelaide
13. Gold Coast
14. Brisbane
15. St. Kilda
16. Western Bulldogs
17. Melbourne
18. GWS

The gap closed a little between Hawthorn and Geelong this weekend. Essendon and Sydney proved their credentials, whereas Collingwood and Richmond are now uncomfortably close to falling into that 8-12 pack that is still yet to untangle itself. St. Kilda deservedly drop to 15th and the rest more or less stay the same. Smile

Interesting. Definitely wouldn't have Freo above Hawthorn and Geelong at this point, though I agree that they've been impressive. West Coast seems awfully high — who have they beaten again? Their only really compelling performance remains beating Carlton by 26 points in Perth. We've done better than that.
