What's this going to do to his Brownlow chances now? I bet you 35forever is devastated. No Brownlow this year I guess.

The silence has been deafening, hasn't it?

Maybe he's keeping a silent vigil for Dale's career. We can only hope.

Well now that his diagnosis is 6-8 weeks I think he can win the Brownlow again. I mean he is a vote accumulator after all. BOG every game for the last 16 weeks. Thank you for your insight 35forever, I would never have known he was such a loss to us if it wasn't for you. /sarc

I dislocated my shoulder.

It didn't require surgery either but it took nothing for the bastard to keep popping out afterwards and they all hurt.

Not being a medical expert I'd still think shoulder surgery would be preferable to running out and getting smashed by elite athletes week after week in a contact sport, for the long term recovery of your shoulder.

Yep. Dislocated my shoulder but I went with the surgery. 3 pins in it. Doc said I was right to go 3 months after surgery. God it was sore and bruised for ages. I did all the exercises and physio too.

Luckily it's their job and they get it for free three times daily whereas us hacks pay for it twice a week.

I tell you now his shoulder will go ping again before the season is out and he'll go in for surgery.

Shoulder injuries are a curse for footballers just like knee injuries.

This was my immediate reaction too. Has Dale forgotten about his ankle? Don't need surgery, just rest. Bang. No, no, you were unlucky. No surgery this time either, just rest. Bang. Ok, maybe you should get the surgery....

This is precisely why we should never have been so harsh on him for leaving. We chose not to take the risk, he chose to take the money on offer since it was likely going to be his last payday.

I hope people start to appreciate what he meant to the Collingwood Football Club during our only successful era of the last 20 years. He was arguably the x factor that turned a great team into a premiership team!!!!

I am certain that if he hadn't of suffered such a debilitating injury, he would have gone down as an all time great Collingwood person (as his buddy Scott Pendlebury surely will).

Like Like Like.

He has been a disaster for the Blues though. Yikes.

Not really built for a long term AFL career. Was starting to slow down and simply never had a great reliable disposal. Was a 'x-factor' and team lifter but too injury prone.

I wouldn't necessarily say this wouldn't have happened if he didn't have his arms out appealing for a free kick, as it could have dislocated with his arms outstretched also. Hopefully the hard/short cricket turf wasn't a factor (you'd think minimal influence).

Purely a business decision for him and the club. Had to go.

Only 6 weeks, apparently. No surgery required.

I'd still be happy to perform some on him (without anaesthetic or, for that matter, a medical licence).

With Mick and Butters down there chances are he'll miss the whole season.

Seriously, a MINORITY of posters on this thread just need to build a bridge.

Dont hate the ( premiership ) player, hate the game.

And if that doesnt mean anything to you, then ask yourself if you were offered an extra quarter million a year for the next five years, would you take it or not ??
I wish our 2010 premiership player well ... until he plays the Pies of course.

You know where this argument falls over? At the end of 2011 coming off an AA year when we offered him a 4 year deal at top dollar. He could have had his big contract then but he took the 2 year deal to take him to Free Agency.

No sympathy for the mercenary. The guy was used for all of our junior marketing and he had the highest selling jumper for how many years? Spat in our eye and joined Mick at the scum.

Hope he misses the year, Mick gets the sack and they can both hook up next year at Williamstown in the VFL

Hey, what did Wiily do to deserve that??

As a life long Williamstown supporter, I hope you are very wrong. Port Melbourne can have them both.

Bugger off, the Borough don't need 'em and the Borough don't want 'em!
