CA website:

"Usman Khawaja sent another emphatic statement to national selectors with his second century in as many Marsh One-Day Cup games, as Queensland set Victoria 305 to win at the Junction Oval.

Like he did two days ago at the same venue in his first game since his Ashes axing, Khawaja anchored a strong Bulls first-innings effort with a classy ton at the top of the order, hitting six fours and two sixes in his 125-ball 112"

... and:

"Finch's career-best knock leads Vics to victory.

A stunning display from Aaron Finch has trumped Usman Khawaja's own century in the Marsh One-Day Cup"

Two totals of 300+ in the one game isn't all that significant, these days, but I wonder if a team has chased down 300 or more with the loss of just 1 wicket, in List A history ? Or ODIs.

Finch's ton was his 20th. in this format. Also 44 half centuries.

Victoria's 1/305 was reached in just 44.2 overs.

Tremendous knock by Finch. I just watched the highlights. I’ll watch the full match later.

Some top order batsmen are expected to play 'backbone' innings in 50 over matches. Khawaja is one. Also the likes of Root, S Marsh, du Plessis etc.
...

Maybe I should put this in the WC thread, but I think Khawaja just got in the way of Smith in the WC. They both lack power hitting (and Khawaja, despite one very good catch on the boundary line, is a terrible fielder), so it's hard to fit them in the one side. Root did far, far better in the WC than either.

Finch’s 14 sixes was the second most hit in an Australian domestic one-dayer, with D’Arcy Short's incredible 257, las year, the record-holder with 23 sixes.

List A pertinent stats.

Khawaja averages 48.10 with a strike rate of 86.55

Finch (including his 188*) averages 40.66 with a strike rate of 89.1

So, Ussy has a much better average and similar s/r as one of the best Limited Overs batsmen in the World.
