Bingo. 3:30 Sunday games provide the lead in to the 7 News at 6pm.

Ffs another Sunday twilight game next week. I swear it’s why we looked a bit flat, waiting to play the last game of the round can make you a bit flat

The next 3 games are late Sunday games:

GWS @ 4:40pm
Carlton @ 3:30pm
North @ 3:30pm

WTF ????? why the heck cant we have at LEAST one Saturday arvo match, in that lot, late Sunday is a shitty time, for most fans, dunno who does these fixtures, but does us fans NO favours at all. Surprised Rolling Eyes

Because Sunday arvo is free to air so of course seven want the biggest drawing team on.

If we played more Saturday arvo you’d get fans whinging about us not being on FTA enough 🤷‍♂️

I prefer Friday night games to be honest. It’s always great to have a win on a Friday night and then to be able to relax for the rest of the week end.But we don’t seem to get that timeslot anymore. The AFL seems to prefer ‘sexy’ sides like Carlton and St Kilda at the moment.😝

A great result. We won it ugly.

I'm not sure if it was slippery conditions, but we butchered the ball a lot for the first 3 quarters. Our fitness and belief shone through in the last qtr. I knew we'd have to sub off Hill and bring on Ginni, and he immediately had an impact. He is such an instinctive footballer with great skills. I'm not sure there's a spot for Hill atm. But he'll no doubt get opportunities in due course.

Checkers is a phucking legend. Frampton is the steal of the century. Go Pies!

yup to all!

Swans chipped around and around like the Chuck Berry number. Their uncontested marks and stats far exceeded us. Get used to it, I think other teams will cotton on. Keeps us busy chasing, and isolating our rolling pack.

Why were the Collingwood supporters booing Buddy? Can’t think of any reason…

Will you be questioning the booing of Toby Greene?

Just finished watching the replay.
My conclusion is that our team plays in waves of energy. The first part of the 1st quarter was one such wave. Naturally the opposition responds to the wave, as Syndey did, and we stabilise our energy output, to keep the game on at least even terms for the next few minutes.
I think our apparent "falling to sleep" - as seemed to occur in the second quarter, is due in part to conserving energy. As long as the scoreboard pressure does not start to turn too unfavourably, we will apply enough pressure to keep the game balanced, but not necessarily more than that. I think our third quarter was similar, although there were bursts of chaos energy at times to keep probing the opposition and its response.
In the last quarter, our physical domination was complete. Sydney could not resist the swarming pressure that we applied relentlessly throughout that quarter. I believe that we are operating according to an energy balance schema, unleashing short waves of high energy at random moments during the first three quarters, in order to ensure that we can unleash a full scale offensive in the last. I noted that Jared Wade is on headphones throughout the game, ensuring his continuous input to Fly's game tactics.
Clearly, our team is trained so well, and so invested and inspired by their sense of team unity and belief, that they can execute this schema efficiently and accurately.
I think this game was a triumph of superb coaching /elite fitness levels and a team psychology in which each man thinks only of the team and not himself.
The commentators were bewailing Sydney;s inaccuracy in shot sets, but ours was just as bad, so I am annulling goal kicking inaccuracy as a factor in this game. Both teams suffered from it.
Moreover, if some of Sydney's set shots had been accurate, we would have raised the energy sufficiently to avoid further scoreboard damage. That is why it is wrong to mechanically look at the number of scoring shots and say that if instead of 0.5 Sydney had scored 5.0 from set shots, they would have won. If their first two set shots had gone through, we would have adapted by raising our pressure. Then the trajectory of the game would have been different.
Once again Jack Ginnivan unfairly umpired. Papley gets the free when bending his legs, but not Ginnivan. Ginni really has an umpires' target on his back, and for the integrity of the game, this needs to be brought up by Fly, in private to avoid a massive fine for himself.
I thought WHE was fantastic tonight. Wonderful game from him...present to link so many chanins and kick a goal himself. He is inexhaustible.
Likewise Frampton played a great game. You can see on his face that his confidence is really building and he is loving being part of this team.
Ginnivan was fantastic as the sub (I thought Kelly should have been the sub
Embarassed ). He created havoc when he came on.
Congratulations to Checkers for his career best tonight.
Go Pies!!

They had twice the number of uncontested marks. Definitely not a game I’ll be watching again on AFL replay.

I think that will change once they release the fixture for Rounds 16-23.

We should get more primetime matches.

Only this year we have had 2 Friday night matches.

Very satisfying win.

Sydney are one of the more unlikeable teams we've encountered in recent times. Their premeditated targeting of Nick at the start of the game was pathetic and weak. Just classic faux tough guys if I've ever seen one.

In addition, you have Longmire whinging about our supporters booing Franklin, but completely forgetting that Ginnivan was subject to booing from the SCG crowd last year and he actually got injured in this game.

On the match itself, fantastic to see Checkers breakthrough and kick 5 goals in a game. It's been a long time coming for him. Just been such a consistent performer for us over the past 5 years. He currently sits 7th on the Coleman Medal tally.

Ginnivan had an instant impact in the final quarter. Just confirmed to everyone that he's in our best 22. The pressure will be on Bobby Hill to lift after a few quiet weeks.

IQ arguably played the best game of his career. Moore was also outstanding once again keeping Franklin under control.

We're not playing perfect footy at the moment, but we've consistently found another gear in our armour when we've been challenged by the opposition. This bodes well for the future.

Quaynors best game for the club today. Frampton just goes from strength to strength and Ginnivan plays himself back into next weeks best 22. They were the unsung hero’s from todays game.

Quaynor’s best game of the year by far. He’s been fumble and out of position. None of that today. Looked rock solid. Augurs well for things to come.
