And this from a troll Hawthorn supporter here under false colours. Yeah, right. You've been outed, Hawthorn boy. Piss off. Take your fascist mates with you.

Yeah I'm a Hawthorn supporter if that gets you to sleep tonight

This thread has lost the plot now Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Anyway in regards to the story, I think I'm actually more concerned about the way the girl was treated after she was escorted from the ground by security. To read that she was interviewed for two hours by police without an adult/guardian being present in the interview is disturbing, and the potential charges that could have been laid against her if Goodes wanted to go all the way with the complaint. I also find it disturbing that a word such as 'ape' could lead to serious ramifications for a person despite the fact that the word could be interpreted in many different ways.

The overall majority don't condone racism, but are understandably critical of the fallout of this whole situation and the way the power of the media has once again demonstrated how easily people can believe things without knowing the full facts of a story. As I've mentioned already, it heavily reminds me of the British's nurse death in December last year and the way the DJs were being hounded by the press and the general public. The young girl was in a similar position on Friday night and Saturday morning, but at least more people have realised that she's been a scapegoat for the media.

"I thought we'd come further than this as a society" sentiments - you people are way off the mark.
Some seem to be missing the point that the girl was surprised to learn that calling someone an Ape could be construed as racist. Why does she need to be educated about this?? Why is it not seen as a good thing that the generation doesn't carry around the same hang ups that some still do?? This actually IS progression.

Goodes and the media have made it a racial incident.
This is SO wrong.

And now Goodes is hero?? PLEASE!!
Well done Adam, you have your "look at me moment" in Indigenous Round now.

And to people such as Nash Rising and those that harbour the same thoughts - you make me ill.
Anybody that doesn't hold the same opinion as yourself, needs to be re-educated, and "don't get it", and we have work to do as a society, etc, etc....... It seems everybody must think the same way as you or they are bad people.

My personal opinion, is that we should all be treated equally.
I don't see why an Aboriginal person, a European person, an African person, an Anglo person - should expect any different treatment than anyone else based on what happened in the past.

Disagree if that isn't your belief - but don't hold yourself in higher regard for doing so.

Another good post.

I'm just as concerned that her mother let her be escorted out of the ground by herself and sat there looking like she had nothing to do with her.

Without wanting to sound like a drama queen....I have had enough of racism in our terraces, Its not me, Its not what I want to see, My two indigenous grand boys don't deserve to see it and be a part of it..and it gets tiring trying to explain again and again to them why this occurs ! Again the latest racism will be swept under the carpet until next time..same old shite different round..I actually walked out of the MCG last Friday night thinking we could all be someplace else without all this angst and hatred..My god what has become of us..Where is the governance to genuinely want to stamp out this nasty behaviour..Where is the education process ???

We paint footballs to celebrate indigenous round...we produce posters of indigenous players with jumpers up pointing at skin...knowing that our terraces is rife with racism and we don't produce anything for that round as an education tool for all people to read and acknowledge the hurt and dangers of racism...For gods sake stop patting yourselves on the back AFL look at us look at us look at what we're doing etc etc etc. Get bloody serious and start educating!!!!!!

Yes I agree it is an education issue Joffa and we should do everything in our power to wipe it out, but look through this thread, what do you say to those fellow Collingwood Supporters who are clearly and knowingly Racist?
