Seriously lets make some space and just get Ben Brown to Collingwood.

How can we be in for Lynch without it being possible to sign Brown instead.

I thought we would handle the Eagles on the MCG but we were not prepared.

MM, I think we had them while we were able to play our game style - ordered chaos, in close. Then, they took on the Hawthorn game style and we were stuffed. Please, can someone tell me why we can't handle that kick, lead, mark - rinse and repeat style?
It is because we play a zone setup more often than not, that Hawthorn game style picks it apart. Man on man is the answer there but we don't really do that too well. We like to swoop on turnovers and run and gun, but when the opposition holds on to the ball like the Eagles did today beautifully well for 3 qtrs then we are stuffed, we become ball watchers. The manic rushing of the ball carrier was not there today either, but that is hard to implement regularly, save that for 4 weeks in September with a practice game now and then.

Many thanks for your reply MM.
Let's hope then, that the coaches get together and teach our boys how to man up when it's necessary!!! I get that it must be hard to change your game style during a game, but somehow we need to be able to switch to a Plan B when the opposition adopts that "Hawthorn" strategy. It irks the beejesuz out of me that we just can't seem to do anything to stop it. Sigh.

You virtually can’t play man on man when you get behind in the game because you have to change the way you play and do something different to win the game.
The way the game is played these days, when you get behind on the scoreboard, you are forced into either one of two things. You can either play an extra in defence to stop the rot or play an extra at the contest ( usually a winger ) to offer an advantage at the immediate contest. Obviously this means that they have an extra somewhere too. The key is to get better value out our extra than theirs. That’s the real challenge in coaching from behind.

Personally, I think we were in trouble the moment Miochek was asked to play the role of taking their best intercept player out of our scoring corridor. McGovern owned us and you have to be both smart as a defensive forward and very fit to nullify his impact. ( Miochek doesn’t strike me as being good at either of those prerequisites )
Cox missing was a huge loss because that would have given McGovern a lot more to think about.
I wouldn’t start looking for the closest sharp object yet. After seven on the trot, the next loss was never going to be far away.
It’s how you respond, that matters.

BB is contracted until the end of 2020. Lynch is not contracted.

Of course, we could have drafted BB --- twice. Never mind...

I don’t care what anyone says, should’ve put them to the sword early on, we let them in, 8 scoring shots to 2 it was at one point, fk that!
If those shots were all goals we would’ve won easy.
You can’t go into big games & give good sides like that a sniff.

Regroup for next week now & beat North, hopefully by the time we get to the pointy end we’ll have some of our big guns back from injury.

Best thing that came out of this match is Moore got through it and actually looked impressive.
We looked lethargic today, and didn't have much zip.
I didn't think Varcs was as bad as people on here are saying..just his diecision making was a bit off.
The one player that should not have been on the park is Crocker. He got a total of 18 Supercoach points for the match. That's right 18!! What I don't like about that selection is that he's never commanded a spot in the team through his form in the 2nds or the seniors, yet Bucks keeps going with him.
Brown, Murray, Wills, McLarty, Oxley, Murphy are more deserving of a game.

Take the learnings and go again Pies. Our season isn't done yet. There's a few more shots to fire.

I put the mocker right on 'em!

If we are the real deal, we should beat both Swans and North

Yes, happily North are weak up forward. Just 8 goals from Brown and Daw (4 each) and 5 from their Captain.

The remaining games and just maybe finals aside our future cries out for a key tall

True because Crocker in for cox was a huge mistake... Crocker must of supported the weagles as a kid coz he sure did like giving the ball to them.

We could probably use a KPD; might be worth looking into at trade time...

We looked lethargic vs Carlton as well. Sunday afternoon, lowish crowd. Does this team have an inability to ‘get up’ wothout A big crowd behind them?

I noticed today we really started to get lose the hard in ball gets and clearances when Sier went off just after half time. He really looked good until then and we're going to miss him next week if he doesnt get up which I doubt 6 day break he will.

Cannot believe Crocker came in for Cox was touch and go anyway according to Bucks and oh no Blairs name mentioned again. Bucks is just a little to conservative. How long do some guys have to wait for a crack. About time too Sunday teams named the team on Thursday and then just included the emergencies. What is an extended bench$%%#@@!. Coxy walked past 3 times at the G and he looked pretty good to us. Go Pies
