I probably should add that I never set out to patronise people. If I describe something as "self-evident", I do so because (and only because) I think it is.

If you think it isn't, then feel free to try to persuade me to the contrary. The fact that the arguments you have made so far haven't persuaded me that you are correct doesn't mean that you can't with another argument.

Oh man I hope your poor wife is a lawyer too! Wink

Nah. I hate them. Certainly couldn't be confined in close proximity with one if I wasn't receiving my usual extortionate daily rate.

Well I've slept on it. and I've decided I don't owe you another argument. What I've written contains everything you need to see the double standard in reaction that exists.

If you cannot see it, we are at a dead end.

Well, I wonder which party ol' mate Goodesy will turn out for in the upcoming Federal Election??

ALP - 1:4
Greens - 3:1
Independent - 15:1
Liberal - 20:1
National - 99:1
Palmer United - 500:1
Motoring Enthusiasts - 1000:1
Not interested in a career in politics - 2,000,000:1

Any takers??

Bachar Houli - I get the impression he's a little embarrassed by all the attention.

So, in answer to the question in the thread title: no.

If Goodes was going to join any political party it would most likely be the Greens.

After all, Goodes was quoted in an Article published in The Age a few years back that he had positive sentiments towards Green politics.

Has Houli sooked about being booed and declared it racist? Otherwise, he's nowhere near Goodes. There is a difference between sooking about being booed, and being outraged by racist knobs.

Goodes had a right to be upset being called an ape, however, it was the media that made that much more than it was. Goodes really wasn't driving that one, he pointed to the girl then the media had a field day.

Of course once she said sorry, and explained herself it was all done and dusted for Goodes, the booing he seemed to take way too far, had he ignored it like most of the players that have been booed in their careers it wouldn't have become an issue.

Once everyone knew it bothered him, they did it to unsettled him.

The banner is a tricky one, but if Houli was offended by it then that's fine he can be, that's a little more political and can have racial undertones than someone booing.

So all in all, no, Houli is not like Goodes, simply for the fact that Houli hasn't cried foul over booing, Goodes made it a big deal, made it a racial thing when other players get booed, and no other aboriginal copped it now if it ws racist they'd have copped it all alone too, they didn't.

Goodes was booed for being a dickhead, other players are booed for their own reasons as well.... But that's just my reply to the topic heading.

The banner I am not sure my feelings on, other than annoyance that it was during a game and had "Go Pies" on it, away from football, no "Go Pies" and I think that's another issue. Sport and politics shouldn't mix.

I've posted this before, but I still think it's the best summation of the Goodes thing:
