Eldest got a letter from VicRoads, because she has not had any tickets or anything else whilst on her P plates, they will pay for her licence for the next three years!

(Not me, I got tickets on my P's!)

Well done!

Drove the new family home from the hospital this morning, got to have a good look at the kid now he's been scrubbed up a bit.

He's got a set of paws on him, got my fingers . Sean (the dad) has big hands too but his fingers are thicker than mine and about 1cm shorter. Got a fair sized hoof too. Reckon he's got a bit of growth in him.

Also, pre scrub up it looked like he had dark hair like his mum, post wash he's got white eyelashes and looks like blonde hair coming through.

Good kid. On the way back to their place, not a peep. Got sick of the radio so kicked over to the baby ipod (only Apple thing I own) and Ace of Spades came on first up. Turned it up a bit, kid didn't flinch, just kept snoozing. Flick, Flick thru some songs, bit of Chisel, same.

Kid has potential. Cool

Just got my name mentioned in a booklet accompanying the American DVD release of the French film Out 1, as part of an essay written by Jonathan Rosenbaum (one of the USA's greatest living film critics). Pretty surreal!

I believe he wrote that "David's recommendation of the Iranian film 'The Wind Will Carry Us' regrettably failed to mention that it is the most boring film ever made...." Wink

But more seriously, congratulations, David - that is cool !

Haha, it's funny you mention that - Rosenbaum is probably the most prominent champion of Iranian cinema out there, and almost single-handedly brought directors like Kiarostami into the Western critical 'canon' (so yeah, you can blame him for everything... Wink) That makes this doubly exciting for me, because it's not just about the exposure but the fact that a critic I have admired for years is aware of my work.

Jo, it's just a brief reference to a video essay that a friend and I put together a couple of years back. He refers to the series as a whole (five videos by six critics, usually collaborating in pairs) as an important contribution to discussion of the film and mentions us both by name. Smile It may not mean much to anyone here, but this is the piece in question. That's me reading a poem over the soundtrack about six minutes in:

In 29 days, 8 hours and 56 minutes, something magical occurs on Earth.

The Collingwood Football Club - The great black and white stripes, take to the field and have another shot in the quest for the earthly Holy Grail 😊

And invite us all along for the sometimes tearful, sometimes joyful, more smashed tv's and crushed remote controls- but always full of hope and passion. Always a relief from an often cruel world full of pain, sorrow and loss. Go the Pies!

Less than a month to go......
